I have been "POPED" at least a dozen times, I guess the CHP likes to do it... LOL Anyway when it happens it makes the same tone as the Kz tone (each band has it's own unique tone with my Beltronics) but it's 100% and beeps super fast it's meant to startle you to slow down fat!!

All the higher end models of the Bel and Escort have the multidirectional feature. It picks up from all directions not just in front of you. You dont have to wait for it to bounce back at the front. You can say what ever you want about the V1 but it has been PROVEN in multple testing situations to be inferior product to some of the newer bel and escort models. They have made almost no changes to the V1 since it was released in 1992. Technology has come a long way in 17 years. Also if Laser is detected its too late you have been shot and you might as well just pull over and wait for the cop to catch up. Do the research as I did and learn that you are now dealing with a lesser model of radar detector.

True it is harder for radar detectors to work with curves or hills but once again some of the higher end models are able to detect with such accuracy now that they can. There is a website someone already posted the link here, that does there testing with hills and curves. They show that the higher end models work up to 1/2 a mile away with curves and hills with a high percentage of accuracy, 90 to 100%. As long as you arent running out alone in the fast lane, have high traffic, and arent just being completly oblivious the detectors now are remarkable. If you use a high end model you wont be seeing a ticket for the life of that unit.

That's too bad! For them LOL, I live around lots of winding roads... Radar bounces around in those canyons and windy roads just fine, My RX-65 works great, it goes off I slow down come around the corner and find Johnny chillin on the road side... I think that's what sets the Bel apart if you ask me. Also I do have to drive 90% of my commute to work on a freeway so it works there great!

You should start taking a tally of what make and model they are running, LOL That would be a great post!! Real world testing!

Id be willing to bet most are running the cheap Cobra series from Wally World. Those things are junk. For the price of some of those you could get a way better company for the same price.

I have done quite a bit of research and will be going with the Escort Passport 9500ix. It isn't cheap, but then again, neither are the tickets.

Do a YouTube search for "Passport 9500ix". There are some good videos that show the V1 and 9500 head-to-head. It looks like the Pasport picks up signals way before the V1.

I also like the Laser Shifter (jammer) feature. I like the fact that the Passport allows you to turn off the shifter after you slow down. This will keep you from pissing off the cops when they try to tag you.
