I bought a Hypertech tuner for my 05 Silverado 4.3 4x4 right after that vehicle was released. The tuner didn’t work either and I had to send it back to Hypertech for updating…the new update feature they have now was not available. They updated it and returned to me very quickly and it worked flawlessly as long as I had the truck. It appears that GM has written several different tunes to this ECM as production ran. This is because they find problems every day that are solved by updating the ECM. Hypertech has to try to find all the different tunes and write theirs to pick up all of GM’s. I have never had poor service from Hypertech. I’d suggest patience and work with Hypertech and they will get this perfected.

My turn to ask a question and see if anyone can answer it... If we tune our cars using the hypertech programmer, can we reverse it incase in need of warrenty work? I know tuning voids warrenty i know i know... but if we can restore the factory settings, arnt we ok? EDIT: How can they prove it?? Can anyone verify this?

DJ, We already answered this earlier in this thread. To the best of everyone's knowledge, GM and dealerships can not see how many times the ECM has been flashed (flash counter) on the V6 Bosch ECM. I think someone even went as far as leaving the tune installed and the dealership couldn't even see that, but I'd recommend returning back to stock before servicing.

This is very good statement, and what was explained to me today. Not all of us with a V6 have the same ECU so unfortunately it's taking all these updates to find out what codes to write.

Some have left it and it was never even seen. The Hypertech tuner will flash the computer back to stock with ease. It's then flashed back to your personal tuned settings when desired.

The good news for you guys that are having problems is that at the end of the day everything will be straighten out but I do believe that HT have spoken a little too soon and too late with "we did it"

Anyone here taking it to the dyno?

I plan on taking mine to the dyno, i got a lot more upgrades to test out such as the Vararam, Vmax TB , and Hypertech Tune... hopefully will all yield better results ill be happy with 270-280 rwhp , i managed 240RWHP last time.

Just make sure you take it to the same dyno and compare the ASE corrected numbers from the previous run with the new one and you should get a very good idea of what you gained. Looking forward to it.

That seems very low rwhp even for a stock car, right? The reason I ask is GM claims 312 hp at the crank and roughly 15% drivetrain loss would mean 265.2 hp, if the drivetrain is better, you may see as low as 12% loss so 275 rwhp. Hypertech claims stock theirs made 275 rwhp. I'll have to look around on C5 for dyno sheets on the LLT. Is yours normal or is that low though?

Do several dyno pulls in untuned form, then flash the Hypertech Tune and do several more in tuned form on the same day same time. Make sure you get the raw data download to a flash drive. Then go home and overlay the two best graphs in each tune using the software from the dyno which you can download from dynojet if that is the one they used.

I'm going to go to the same dyno and do exactly what i did last time to hopefully see a good difference in what i picked up, the car definitely feels way better then before when i had a stock intake and TB only upgrade at that time was the Doug Thorley shorties, I'm waiting for the tune it will be here Thursday supposedly so ill keep you guys updated!

Yea its always low i don't know why, every LLT is pretty low from a start also depending on the dyno , a dynojet and a mustang dyno yield completely different results.
Ill hope for a good increase then with the tune if they claim 275rwhp with JUST a tune... as i have all the supporting mods. One thing i did notice though, with my shorty headers my torque was pretty high at 250RWTQ, don't know if it sounds right or not, but it was literally right after i got my headers installed and with the car completely heat soaked of driving 1 hr to get the dyno.

Oh and i got a new intake plenum replaced by the dealer cause of prior issues... i swear the car felt like night and day with it.... felt like i had the Vmax on it , but i didn't!

I was thinking about doing that, but does the computer need time to adjust ???

I don't really get the part about the raw data download, how would i do that? and download what from dynojet , sorry noob at dynoing and stuff I'm just starting to get the hang of it modding i can do no problem, tuning is where i need to learn more about!

Let's see if I can get this to post the image of the Hypertech Dyno results:

Nope, it's a PDF file so go to THIS link for the dyno sheet.

It shouldn't need any time to adjust since you are putting the programmed tune right into the ECM. Just make sure you are running premium fuel for a few weeksn before and through the tuning day so the stock tune stays on the high octane table.

Hey that led me to a question. Since there are two tables in the stock tune, which the Hypertech should copy and store, when you flash back to stock, does the ECM automatically default to the high octane tables? Or must the ECM re-learn which tables to be on? I know this ECM doesn't need a fuse pull to reset the ECM, but exactly how fast can it jump back and forth between tables? How often does it try the high octane table and wait for spark knock, etc. Sorry about the slightly off topic, but this would help those who are going to dyno tune so they know they get truely comparable numbers.

I run premium always anyways now mine as well i like to think my cars getting the best it can. Well if it doesn't need time to adjust ill do a before and after at the dyno session for sure just to see true gains from it. And from what i know Shu , there is no tables in general for the car it just adjusts its self (the ecm) to what ever values the cars capable of doing with whatever octane it has in it, pretty much untill it detects knock i believe, as some have tested premium vs regular and saw the knock sensors more active with regular.
