I'm very new to this forum, so if you could coach me on how to find out a rail car number, I would appreciate it very much. I'm tracking on GM Connects. Does it show up there?

I went to my dealer and they pretty much acted like they didnt know what i was talking about. so i called GM this morning at 1-800-222-1020 and told them how happy i was to have ordered a new camaro and to find out that it was shipped. i then asked if i could find out a status and the railcar # so i could track it myself. She put me on hold and then came back and gave me the railcar number. that easy. Then just call the railroad phone numbers from that "track your railcar" thread and enter the railcar number.

Thank you. I may just let this play out and just let it come in when it comes in. I'm guessing it might travel from Oshawa to Chicago to St. Louis pretty quickly. It only took around a week for a guy here in town to get his once shipped. I figure I'll be about the same. Thanks for the link.

Good luck with that. If you can do that then you are a much stronger man than I. just knowing that i could call a phone number and find out where it is, was just too much pressure for me to take. I caved in about 5 seconds after i found out that i could track it.

I live in Milwaukee. From Oshawa to my dealer, my 2010 took 7 days (1 week). Probably add a day or two for St. Louis. It sat on a lot near Madison for 3 of those days. The train was the fastest part...

It wasn't until I ordered this car that I realized just how impatient I've become!

Quick update. Called the Customer Service # and was informed that the car has left the factory and is on its way to Chicago Heights, IL. Dealer says the system goes offline at 8PM CST, so I can't get a rail car # until the morning. :(

I called Customer service and they still can't give me a rail car #, but they did tell me my Camaro is at the Croxton Intermodal Terminal in Jersey City, heading to it's drop off point at the Doremus Ave. Auto Terminal in Newark. So close.

You need to have your sales manager call the GM Dealer Business Center for the rail car info. It's not available to the public.

He professes his ignorance by saying he doesn't know how to do it... - he says he called the dealer service center and coiuldm't get the number, so I'm leaving it at that. I went to the dealer yesterday and gave my salesman all the info... laziness is a bad thing when your dealing with me. I will let him know it after the deal is done. And since the car is only about 40 minutes away, I know it's very near...

That's ridiculous. You should call GM to complain. My sales manager was out of town. They gave me his cell, I called and he gladly accepted my call and asked for my 6-digit order number. He called me back within 5 minutes with my CSX ETTX rail car number.
