I bet that truck drive pooped his pants when he saw that. It's a good thing that you showed up on the lot. No telling what story you might have gotten if you didn't. I hope it works out for you. That would really suck.

I just keep hoping I'm going to wake up from a bad dream (I've had them before). This whole situation makes me nauseous.

I don't know what to do.... Order another tomorrow? Same dealer? Different dealer? Ditch GM all together (not likely unless they blow me off).

This is not what I was expecting. Part of it is my fault. I shouldn't have sold my car. Ordered exhaust. Bought a car seat. Gotten financing lined up. OR... maybe they should be more ****ing careful.

Either way, even though the [medicinal] alcohol I'm drinking is calming me down, I still want to punch a hole in the ****ing wall.

One good thing is I am a headhunter and have good resources to find people in GM. If I contact someone high enough in the food chain in GM- I may get some real help as apposed to the "here call this 800 number and open a ticket" kind of treatment my shitass dealership is giving me.

****. Excuse my french. Don't ban me for being out of line- but ****!!!!!!! I'm so pissed!!!! :(

Matt I'm so sorry, not that I would want it to happen to anyone, but feel so bad it was you. You have been so helpful to so many people including myself it breaks my heart. No way you should keep that one. Mine is suppose to be here Sunday morning. We are scared to death have heard about and seen so many 2012 coming in damaged. Just not that bad. Good luck.

Thanks. And I agree. I fear for what would have happened if I didn't ditch work early based on my gut feeling.

i'm going to contact becky tomorrow to find out details on how the process works.

if my dealership can give me a better deal or throw in some stuff because of what happened- i'll do that. in any case my dealership isn't at fault. it's just something that happens. but their communication was less than optimal and they didn't seem too sympathetic about the situation.
Basically you contact her, place order, put a deposit down once the car is accepted to production, choose to have it drop shipped to you, or do what i did and have it go to her to have some stuff done, then shipped to you for a small extra fee. After the car is built and leaves the plant, shel send you the paper work overnight, you fill out, put back in the envelope she provides and send back to her, the car arrives, and you be happy.

Sorry to hear about this. I would point you to my dealership, but I wasn't all that thrilled with them, either. Hope you can turn this around and get the car you want ASAP.

OMG those pictures make me sick to my stomach!

That is just awful.

I can only hope that the dealership didn't call you because they were trying to figure out how to break this to you and NOT that they were going to try to hide it. I have never seen anything like this before.

Please don't hold this against GM. It was not their fault, it was the truck driver that failed to secure the chain. Go buy yourself a Camaro and drive it! You'll love it!

that sucks a lot. there really isn't much you can do though i guess, except beg them to give you a discount on your next car or something.

you mentioned not having a car for another 2 months, i would definitely ask them for a loaner. GM does not usually do that for insurance purposes, but they should definitely do it for you.

Call Eric Hall over at Classic Chevy Grapevine. He is on the forums and several have bought from him. He is a Camaro guy so there'll be no BS or not knowing what's going on.

If I re-order I'll definitely be considering another dealer. Not that this dealer was horrible- but the communication was not optimal.

I guess that transport driver will be piloting a taxi next week. Potato head.
Everything? No. They've done literally nothing but look for another car.
I know it's not their fault, but someone should pay for the mistake of the truck driver and I'll be damned if it is me.
Personally I think they should discount whatever car I end up buying, and roll their loss onto the trucking company who jacked up the car. Only seems reasonable to hold the responsible party accountable for their actions.

I spoke with my old friends dad who has been in the car business for 40 years. He knows lots of people and has been around the block.
He said the biggest body shops in the country are at the end of the assembly lines of manufacturers like GM, Ford, Buick, etc. He's seen first hand cars being damaged in the assembly line (says it happens often) and it goes and gets paint work and moves along with no note of it.

He also said I should consider having them fix the car, and discount it a couple thousand dollars. He said with paint and body shops techniques and tools nowadays they do great work typically, and black is an especially easy color to work with...

The thought of taking that car makes me want to vomit, but if they'd knock of 2 grand it may be something to think about... Thoughts?

Maybe a couple grand, free tinted windows, and some oil changes.

I will say that my car has already recieved a major door ding right on the lip of the rear fender well and has already been scratched bad enough that they had to re-spray the whole quarter panel and bumper. You can't tell anything has been done now. So, a good body man can take care of that.

Just make sure if you go that route to look it over with a fine tooth comb before accepting it and if you aren't 100% satisfied then don't sign the dotted line.
