SlingShot, hopefully through thorough documentation your dealer can get this issue resolved for you. I hope it doesn't take long for this noise to be addressed for you or anyone else here and you can all get back to properly enjoying your vehicles!

I dont have the tsb, search around page 4 I thought I mighta seen it posted. This 2-3 second grind noise has nothing to do with your rear differential fluid.

Back on 9/8 I had my diff oil/additive replaced with Redline oil/additive. Made the noise even worse.

2 days ago I took it into my local Chevy Dealer...Courtesy Chevy in San Jose. They replaced it with the standard Camaro diff oil/additive. Didn't help either.

During that same appointment they replaced the Camaro diff oil/additive with Corvette diff oil/additive. Major improvement. I still have the noise when the engine/tranny are cold pulling out of the driveway. But it's much quieter and you can't really hear it unless you're really trying to listen for it. Before the entire neighborhood heard me pulling out of my driveway. I think it's improving day by day as well, as this morning the noise was quieter than yesterday.

Anyways, you may want to try out the Corvette diff oil/additive and see if it works for you.

mine does this too... along with a bunch of other noises. theres a lot of kinks with these cars. kinda sad that such an awesome car has to have so many little problems. i often just brush it off when a new noise starts but im kinda worrying... only 19,000 on mine and a new noise every couple months... ridiculous. never thought id say this but chevys gotta step up their game with the little things. they got the engine right... LS3. trans is good although grinds into 2nd.... brembos are cool. but come on little things like that piss me off

Just got my 2011 few months ago-noticed grinding noise just like all these other post shortly after my first oil change-thought it was just breaks from moisture-noise began gettin worse. Was just on left turn's now it's doin it right or left and went from just pulling out of garage or taking off from parking if had sit a long time-till now driving into turns in 1st thru 2nd gear. Apt at garage is Wednesday-I hope they fix my baby-Makes me sick to hear it and know something is going on with my new ride!!!

Update: I realize now there are 2 different problems described in this thread. My problem is the grinding/chatter/vibration observed when doing low speed turns (parking lot maneuvers). I dropped my car off at the dealership this morning and they are going to keep it to open up the differential and see what they can find. I did call customer service, so I do have a file # assigned to me now (Jeff - thanks for the info on this). I will say that I am happy that an attempt is being made to find root cause of the problem....however, I'm also a bit nervous that if the differential is not put back together correctly that I will have other new noises...time will tell. I will update again when I get the car back. In the meantime I'll enjoy my Silverado rental

That's what I've been saying ... My problem seems to be more of a ABS problem. It sounds like metal on metal when backing up and I can feel it slightly in the brake pedal. Doesn't do it all the time, so trying to reproduce it for the dealer has become futile. At least they have a record of it, if they were to ever find a fix.

Update: I got my car back. They replaced the whole rear differential (part # 92246988). Hopefully it's fixed for good now.

Throwing in my update on swapping in the corvette diff fluid. Significant improvement. On cold start up I may hear a small hum on the first couple of corners I take...only noticeable if you really try to listen for it and avoid hitting the accelerator. Before the whole neighborhood could hear me...now it's totally unnoticeable outside of the car even when cold.

Curious if the diff replacement completely eliminates the cold start noise.

Add me to the list of people with this problem. I usually hear this noise only after cold starts in the morning or when I'm leaving work. I no longer hear the noise on turns after running the car for a minute. I guess I'll have to take this into my dealer for them to check it out.
