Not sure how I feel about Beaverun. I think I am going to do Mid Ohio's three day class early next year, then I will be allowed to do open lap time with passing when ever. It would be $1875 bucks for three days, Day 1 is 4 hours paddock drills 1 hour track, day 2 is 4 hours of on track drills and 2 hours open lapping, not lead follow, day three 1 hour on track drills and 4+ hours of open track time. During the entire course you can have an instructor ride with you or you follow an instructor to learn the track and how to drive your car. After completion you are eligable to take the licensing school which will teach qualifying, side by side racing, and racing itself. This will then get you a license to race if that is your thing.

So long story short, $1875 gets you:
4 hours of paddock drills, skid car, autocross, corner drills, braking, etc
5 hours on track drills, same thing as paddock but on actual track in segments
1 hour lead follow on track
6+ hours of open track time
Meals for three days
16 plus hours of professional instruction, that is $117 an hour

Future lapping sessions are $675 for five hours

Christ... thats like 10 times at BeaveRun... and almost 4 more for the price of one every time you go back for 5 hours.

Thats too rich for me. For $180 for 5 hours to go out and spank on the car... i am good with that. I just threw it out there... I am going to do it more to visit some friends in PA then go see my family. I wasn't proposing an idea for a group to go.

i know we all breifly were talking about getting the license class, but if you guys start picking a date to do the 3 days, or license class, keep me informed. Maybe we can get into the same classes.

Dude I am not bashing it or you, just giving more options. BeaveRun is $180 for 80 minutes track time or $2.25 a minute, plus you have to deal with a bunch of other people who know really don't know crap about driving at high speeds with a powerful car, and yes we all are in that boat. I feel there is a large risk to my car by other idiots on the track. This option gives 40 minutes of instruction by "BeaveRun instructors" AKA people who have been to the Flat out days before.

Mid Ohio three day program would get you 420 minutes on the track, or $0.22 a minute. This also gives you 9 hours of instruction from people who have actually raced the track and won championships.

If you are just looking to go out and drive your car once or twice and don't care about learning any driving skills BeaveRun isn't a bad deal at all. If you actually want to learn to drive the car like a professional and can be big enough to admit we are amatures and want to really run the car, Mid Ohio is an option as well.

From what I have read, you have to do the three day class before you can do the license class. The three day class is the requirement for the lapping program and gives you the lapping program on the third day, and you have to do the lapping program for the license. I hope that made sense, basically it is this, Day One what we just did with autocross and more time in paddock, Day Two the next step to learning to drive, the drills are on the track instead of paddock, Day Three lapping program. For the license you have to of done the lapping program and have a car that meets SCCA safety standards or rent one of there cars.

I am not sure I would go for a license, but I want to get to the lapping level, its $675 for each 4 hours of track time, but I think it is buy three times get the fourth free or something along those lines. So really you could work it out that you go once a month for all four summer months, and be a kick ass driver and enjoy these cars like they are meant to be enjoyed.

So $675 for a few hours.... I am sorry... thats way too rich for me. I'll go to Beaverun with all the crappy drivers and save $400 each time. I am OK with just being a mediocre driver and my wallet being a little heavier. As far as a lisence... I have absolutly no reason to have one of those.

The funny thing is they are the exact same price in the long run. $675 for five hours of track time for one, and $675 for five hours of track time with the other. You can pick which one is the first one and which one is the second one. One of them you do all at once the other one you do over 3.75 weekends.

I don't think he was understanding that when you say 5 hours of track time, it is actually FIVE HOURS ON THE TRACK, not 20 minutes on, 40 minutes off in a 5 hour block of time.

I'm getting a 4L80 tranny. The 6L80 just doesn't hold up over 500 rwhp.

I've been practicing launching the car.

So $180 times 3.75 times is $675. Hence for the same amount of track time you pay the same amount. Mid Ohio is one long session go at your own pace, they drop the green and out you go, you can come in to get instruction when ever you feel you need it, ie have an instructor ride with you, follow an instructor around the track. BeaveRun is a 20 minute session on the track, 20 or 40 minutes off, 20 minutes on, etc. And you do that over really four weekends so you have the travel cost as well. Also you are heat syncing your tires and hardening the compound in the on off, on off format.

In the end it is a matter of preference and what you are looking to get out of it. You want to go play every now and then so BeaveRun is the better choice for you. A couple of us discussed actually working towards becoming profession drivers and getting an "education" and Mid Ohio provides that for us. I am a firm believer that skills learned at the track in the paddock or actual track carry over into street driving and am looking to better myself while having some fun. Would I go over to BeaveRun and do the flat out day with a group, yeah, but a couple of us want to do something else as well.

I remember a while back you were looking to upgrade your rearend and some people suggested transmission. Did you hold off on the rearend? If so I guess you're lucky in a twisted sort of way. If you went forward with it, I hope the tranny isn't too much of a setback.

I'm beginning to think that the drag radials may have just slipped on the dyno today. The car drives fine.

Anyway, I haven't done the 9" kit yet. I think the transmission is the weak link right now.
