Question Have you got embarrassing neighbors?

What the neighbors do and say when one lives in close proximity can be hilarious and/or unnerving depending on what they're up to and your level of tolerance for dissonance.

We wanna' know 'bout your neighbors and their crazy behavior.

I'll start. My neighbor in the next building over in our 118 unit apartment complex fights regularly with his ruca (live in girlfriend, none too young neither). They were hella goin' at it screamin' on her part, shouting bloody murder on his (remember this all goes down in Spanish).

When it reaches a crescendo, he pushes her outside into the lawn area between the buildings and tells her, "¡Sal de aqui, puta!" (that ain't nice, don't ask me to translate.) She struggles to re-enter the apartment, he grabs her by the dress and rips it off her; she's now completely naked and outside. He slams the door. Another neighbor, among the dozen or so watching the fracas, fetches the poor woman a robe with which to cover herself until her sister can come pick her up.

What a trip, eh?

Damn ! I don't believe you bro. That only happens in the movies. All we have here is a few neighbors that are lazy slobs. They do not mow their lawns or do any type of maintenance to their $240,000 houses. ( Yeah I know I live in the slums. :( )

No jive, bro'. And there's plenty more 'round here. This is Fontana in it's "ghetto" section, as my students are wont to call it.

Had a couple do that at a unit by me about 8 months ago. The guy was always liquored up and he wasn't on the lease (he told me in a rant). So instead of calling the cops, I called the complex and told them I was voiding my lease for allowing this individual to live the complex for free over 4 months and that he was causing a danger. I also informed them that would be calling the police about the domestic dispute so I had a police report on record for my next land lord. Needless to say they promptly evicted said individual and everything is fine now.

You race in women's clothing? I await one of your neighbors responding in this thread!

Prior to moving into the house I have now, I had the wonderful experience of helping intervene in a screaming match in the hallway between two families that lived in two of the apartments upstairs that had escalated to a mother from the one family beating the crap out of the father from the other. It had all started out because their kids had gotten into an arguement earlier in the afternoon.

It was quite surreal... but it did give me an opportunity to meet another neighbor that had actually physically intervened, while I was checking on the kids that had gotten into the crossfire.

That incident ... as well as the night that I awoke to gunfire (14 or 15 shots all apparantly from the same gun) helped encourage me to find a house elsewhere "sooner, rather than later".

When my wife and I lived in East Oakland (a tough part of the Bay Area in No. Calif.) we were on the fourth floor of a large apartment building with no elevator, just stairs. The dudes directly across the hall had transformed their apartment into a fortress with double doors and steel braces integrated into the floor timbers to withstand, at least for a few minutes, an all out assault from the Oakland Police. They took cash in through a slot cut in the inner door and passed out the crack.

Well, the neighbors doorbell rang every few minutes 'round the clock; it sounded so much like it was ours ringin' that I would open the door to see who was there. The neighbors themselves stayed inside pretty much. When I did catch sight of 'em they were wearing surgical masks to cut down on the vapors when they're cookin' the crack, I presume.

They finally moved on to greener pastures after about six weeks; there were no police. They moved of their own volition.
