WOW the wait just came into perspective. All I see when I think of taking delivery is driving down the road and now I have these tips to recite like a mantra. It's calming you should try it.

It has clear coat, they add a "sealer" which is usually a silicone based wax. Its not gonna hurt it but it doesn't need it and assuming you are going to take proper care of your car, you can get a better finish on your own using a cleaning and waxing regimen of your own choosing. Whether its a silicone based wax or traditional carnauba, if you properly prep and wax it, it will glow for years and years. If you are not going to wax it then let them put the protectant on.

My reservation is that the lot guys use dirty rags and wash mits on car after car after car and dirt and debris gets trapped in the wash mits, or worse the cleaning media in an auto wash, and that foreign matter can and does scratch your brand new paint. They may or may not use proper towels when drying the car either and that leads to more scratches. If they apply a sealer with and orbital, they can cause all kinds of trouble including swirl marks and can even damage the paint if they are not careful.

Wow, this is good info but now i'm nervous that i'm going to miss something. So say i do see a nasty scratch or paint run, what should i expect the dealership to do about it?

Delivery

A big thing for me is not allowing the dealer to apply a self sticking logo with the dealer name on it.

I was under the assumption that you shouldn’t wax a new car right away, something about letting the paint cure?

Ask them to repair it. Minor scratches can be buffed out, the paint and dentless repair companies that dealers subcontract can deal appropriately with larger and more noticeable scratches.

Missile man, yes that is very high on my list of things not to happen and will ad that to the original post.

There is mention of taking delivery during the daylight hours, I am editing that into to the original post.

I am going to be at the dealer when the car comes off the truck - Gotta make sure no one drills the front bumper for a lic. plate!
