Sounds like a win-win to me.

Coming nicely! I prefer the flat black look as well. that was my reasoning for doing it too, If you're not a fan of it you can just as easily take it off where as powdercoating is a little more permanent.. lol

I tried 2 methods between the front set and the rear set. Front set I went with a bunch of light coats. Rears I went with 4 heavy coats. I have to say, I like the way the rears came out a lot better. Of course, it could also be that I had all the practice from the fronts that the rears flowed a little more naturally, but they really look better to me. They're not ready to be put on yet, so no pictures at this time. So far, this has been an all day job and I've gone through 7 cans of PlastiDip. They look really awesome though. Also you have to realize that I'm not a mechanical guy. I just follow directions and go for it, but it probably takes me a bit longer than most of you guys to get the job done.

And a bonus shot for all you guys! It's Maggie the Newfoundland! She's my right-hand pooch and is ever-present. The only place she ISN'T allowed is inside the Camaro. Other than that, the world is hers.

As an update to this thread, mine are still good and looking as awesome as the day I did them. Very tough product. They've gone through temperature ranges from 110 down to the 30's and that didn't cause any issues. Neither has pouring rain and high speeds. I need to figure a way to get the very, very edges of them, but not a noticeable thing. At any rate, no regrets from me; I recommend it. I think I'll leave it on at least through the winter just to keep the road junk off of them. Might peel it in the spring.

For the very edge if you stick 4x6 notecards between the tire and the rim you can get the edges.

I didn't have the best luck with that method. I might try it again though.

Looks good. I cant believe someone quoted you $300 per wheel to powder coat. They must be hurting for money, really didnt want to do the job or just plain insane.
