In my defense, he set himself up for that one.

I'm too witty to let that one get by.

I've asked this questions and been told a 454 is not well suited for a supercharger... too much volume to get good boost. Maybe twin turbo?

This is why I'm aiming for a 427 LSX block. I like that showstopper hood too.

O yes.....the guys at Scoggin Dickey's booth and I had this very conversation at the LSX Shootout. If I do anything anytime soon, I may just stroke my LS3. It all depends on how well my daily driver holds up over the winter.

I was actually pleasantly surprised that the cost of going to a 427 LSX block doesn't seem outrageous. My shop recommended getting a different block rather than forging my stock engine. (The cost is not much different.) I can also keep my maggie and some other parts off of my stock motor. I am having IPS work up a quote for me this week. I'm also going to swap out my transmission for a 4L80.

If I get a 9" kit and swap out my differential, can any of you recommend what gear ratio I should go with? I want to have a good compromise between street driving and drag racing.

Yes the LSX block isn't all that bad of a price. It's the internals that could tip the scales, depending on how much you want to do. If your car runs anything like the IPS Vette I saw this weekend, you may need to buy a space suit for piloting a rocket.

As far as the gear ratio, with a boosted 427, and 4L80, I would let IPS recomend what would be best suited. If they are on the fence, talk to the guys at Gforce1360 They have done a few set ups for people and the sky is the limmit for what they can do. I learned from talking to them this weekend that there is so many different factors that come into play like cam, boost, and stall speed for proper gear selection.

Yeah, I talked to Brandon this morning. They put a rod through the block. I had stopped by their shop last week and that Vette was in pieces and they were putting that brand new block in it. Ouch! They won an LSX Shootout event with that car this past Spring. I guess you can't win them all.

I talked to Chris at GForce via pm last week. I told him he and IPS will need to have a conversation to talk about all the pieces and how they'll mesh together. I've let both of them know what my goals are. I'm just talking to them for now. I'm having too much fun driving my car in this beautiful fall weather. I'm not going to do anything right now. But, I love to learn about these things.
