I am male and I say get him the Dyson animal one. That is the one we have and my wife and I both love it!!! I think if you check around you can get it cheaper than the listed price on Dyson, we got ours at Target.

A good vacuum is like a good tool, dont skimp!

Yep. Just remove the chamber then place in bag or trash can and pull the release trigger. You may have to shake it a tiny bit but then good to go. Everyone once and awhile I wash out the chamber with cold water and wipe it down with a papertowel. Dont use hot water!! The plastic will crack from the heat an weight of the water in the chamber.

We bought the "ball" Dyson a couple of years ago....shop around, I think we got the BEST price on Amazon ... the wife swears by it....the absolute BEST vacum she has every had, bar none!

My friends have 3 dogs. You would never know it. Their Dyson (the one made for homes with Pets) does a fantastic job of keeping the hair under control.
