my first DYI paint job.. ENGINE COVER !!

decided to paint the engine covers myself .. i think i did great.. i still need practice to perfect it.

nice.. i tried to do the v8 but it came out not good. so i too it off with a paint hinner.. how do u do the v8 and the chevy lettering ?

DIY Painting the engine cover is one of the best most bang for your buck mods you can do. Excellent job.

Go to the DIY forum and find the thread "weekend engine cover". Basically, you need some alcohol to wipe down the engine cover, some blue painters tape to mask, and a can of krylon fusion for plastic.

I used a black sharpie for the Chevrolet lettering and just tape and a very sharp exacto knife for the V-8. It is not perfect if you get up close, but from 3 feet away it looks great. I also put about 5 coats of clear on it after this picture was taken. Definitely changed the whole look. Smoothed out the rough black plastic and really glossed it up. I just did my front bow tie and am considering white striping the radiator cover to match the stripes.
