Well I might as well chime in here for my first post on Camaro5
![]() I'm also one of the true newbie types. I've never driven a Camaro, Mustang or Challenger, but always been a huge fan of the Camaro, especially the 1969 SS. I also really like the looks of the Mustang and the Challenger. Still not sure which one to buy. ![]() I'm on this site almost every day mostly because of the excellent posts of the CTF cars and all the information on the car that's been posted so far. It's a much better source than the magazines! |

Answering the OP there are a lot of people who are truly interested in learning about both cars. The vast majority are lurkers. When you get into those that register and post, a few actually own both cars or have owned both at some point, and a few more are on the fence. But most of the rest are the self-appointed "internet police" who are only here to demand that their make of car gets the respect they feel it deserves. Figuring out who's who is easy enough by clicking on their post history. If 3/4 or more of their contributions are in Mustang vs. Camaro threads (undoubtedly a few of those suspects are in this thread too) then chances are they are here argue and/or beat their chests.
People love to brag, bicker and flame on the internet because of the anonymity it provides. Go to the track on T&T night and you will find plenty of camraderie and friendly rivalry with Mustang or other Ford drivers (I've found Lightning owners in particular to be a really good group of guys overall). Ask around to see if these guys are spending any time posting on GM message boards and you'll find that very few do. A few lurk or occasionally post in local area sections to hook up with people they know but that's about it. They are grown men with jobs, families and cars to wrench on and barely have time to keep up with their own message boards, much less other people's. Ask yourself what kind of person has so much time on their hands that they're not only keeping up with their own boards but those of other brands too. Then ask yourself if this is a person you want to open a dialogue with, online or otherwise. The same rules apply to everyone. Go to any Mustang board and you're guaranteed to find a few GM loyalists occasionally stirring the pot. I know, because having owned 4 Mustangs and just the one Camaro I've spent more time "there" than "here". Hell I have been guilty myself of just the type of behavior I've described, for a good while after selling the last Mustang and buying the Camaro. It's just like watching one of those WWE wrestling shows, it's the same storylines played out again and again and again and again and again. Only the faces ever change, or in this case the usernames. I joined because I'm getting a Camaro not a Mustang or a Challenger. IMO I just wouldn't join a rival car forum cause you know they will just mad talk the competition all the time. Blah Blah Blah are cars are better then there's and vice versa. I just don't get it
it's a Camaro forum not a Mustang or Challenger forum

![]() My dad actually applied to Ford first, but they turned him down. A few months later he wound up at Norwood Assembly building Camaros and Firebirds...

"What's with us", generally isn't an intense need to defend our beloved Mustang. If you know most of us Mustang guys here, you'll notice that none of us are actually defending the Mustang. In my case, I think the Camaro is a welcome addition to the pony car roster and I can't wait until my dad's is delivered.

i like mustangs only to borrow them and press the gas down till something pops or breaks since there always a problem. i always loved the mustangs because everyone had one. until my old boss had a camaro for sale and i was like what a camaro i was like no. any way he was like take out for a night or 2 and let me know what you think. i got in it and man as soon as i put the gas i felt power and a little better. so i bought it and i still have it since 1999. i also had a mustang but that thing will aways left my wallet and every pay check empty. i like mustangs but i will never get one out of my own pocket not unless i win one or something.
