There are colors I like to see that I wouldn't want to drive or own. Mainly, I avoid the solid colors just because they seem so "plain Jane" to me. And when you consider you have to have black, yellow, white, red, and it only leaves 6 colors to choose from. If they ever reinstated Hugger Orange that would make 5 total solid colors leaving room for 5 metallics.
My take would be: First go with what the world recognizes as the PRECIOUS METALS SILVER GOLD PLATINUM TITANIUM And, then have one remaining metallic base on a precious STONE; RUBY EMERALD etc... Or you could alter that to be 3 PRECIOUS METALS and 3 RARE STONES ...mix it up a little each year. Just trying to give an impartial observation that seems to follow a "marketing" plan of attack. Make what you sell, PRECIOUS and RARE! The concept conveys that people like to wear and drive "special" things... or things that make them feel "special"......... I wonder if this is an approach the "team" might find valid? Last edited by htron50; 10-21-2011 at 02:49 PM. |

Man I wish they would at least do abm or sgm cause we know those two are qualifies for the Camaro.
This poll is getting some good voter turnout now too which helps the statistics. |

I do not think chevy would change its mind about colors this early on. They may add.... but I doubt if they would change or remove anything at least for 2012... Here is why... Ill give you the quote.... but not the source... The source can add to it if they feel like its important. Just saying.... its not about really "what we like" but rather what "we will buy" I am starting to understand a little more since we have beaten the horse dead... Hey horse you still breathin??" "A poll isn't really worth anything in many respects - especially if it isn't written in a specific language - further, I could be an 8 year old and vote 'yes' -- " That being said..... The poll while interesting..... does not carry a lot of weight when bottom line is, if it does not sell...it aint gonna happen. It does still bring up interesting questions though as far as color choices.. For example.. I can understand why GM would want to pull say color "X" if it does not sell.... But what about the other cars that chevy sells when color "X" is still available on other chevy models? ![]() By that It would seem to reason that people will buy color "X" when it is on only certain models of chevys? How does that work out? Especially when color "X" has been discontinued but yet you can buy it on another chevy vehicle, but you can't buy color "X" on your dream car.... a Camaro? ok... I am breathing life back into the dead horse... lets see if the mustang needs the AEDs..

Ok at the expense of resuscitating Trigger....
Wiz, I think at least we caught the attention of Chevy, in that they are getting firsthand what some potential "real" buyers will want in their zl1. I believe that you may be right about the colors for '12, but if and when it comes to light that the current palette isn't cutting it with chevy, that they should go back thru some notes and come up with some other interesting ideas (such as setting the mood of the zl1 with some vintage flair). Look at it this way......if they make that special color after '12 then there's always trade-in. Not the best position to be in but whatcanyado?

[QUOTE=lbls1;3913208] that they should go back thru some notes and come up with some other interesting ideas (such as setting the mood of the zl1 with some vintage flair).QUOTE]
What moves people emotionally has not changed. What a car represents to buyers is generally consistent with the late 60's. Profits? Companies are rolling in dough right now. John Q incomes are rather flat or declining in real dollars for the last few years. We have to be smarter shoppers. We have to make every dollar count. Yes, GM does too, but the transfer of our assets to secure an emotional need is a touchy subject. Sometimes we compromise. I love that Camaro DESIGN has bridged the generation gap better than any auto in history and, as I've said somewhere before, it fills an emotional need and hole left by unfortunate circumstances, but, I WISH somehow the time machine that it rode upon, in the minds of the creators, would also have a bit more allure in the color palette. I see improvements, however that must be noted. The quality of paints has improved. There are some dynamite "limited" edition paints, extra cost paints, etc....Maybe GM will surprize us. We'll see. But, At any rate, I feel like I better "shut my pie hole".... LOL Last edited by htron50; 10-21-2011 at 08:58 PM. |

And since its been 43 yrs since a zl1 rolled out of The plant it should be nostalgic and dependent too. As its not a rs, its not a ss, its not a copo, its not Z28, its not an lt, Its something different in the last 46 years since camaro was Born. It deserves its own birthday clothes.

The only surprise for some who are continuing on with the seemingly endless color issue is that there is not going to be any surprise<what part of no don't you understand?> fbodfather has explained this point at least half a dozen times. Look, think of it this way...you parked in a fire zone and a cop pulls up and approaches you and asks you for your D/L, Ins card and reg<yes, I am a retired cop>...and you say: Officer, I actually didn't park here, the car is still running..and I am still behind the wheel...I am only here a minute waiting for someone, they will be right out. The cop says you are in a fire zone and that he is going to issue a ticket. Soooo..it's the law. But you still want to make an argument. It's pretty clear cut and dry, your argument is mute, but you want to point out all that is wrong with the cop, the world, the system, and anything else you can come up with to just try and get your way. Shure made a good point earlier about the masses being asses...J/K, well sorta....
I'm off the soap box peeps..next! LOL...

Good valid point.....but not quiet the same thing... You are talking about the difference in law vs a car manufacturer's color here. What changes law? Exactly.... Even laws can be changed can't they? So glad we have the constitution.. But.. before I get into politics which I can't... I think people for the most part should be vocal as long as it does not harm anyone....even if nothing is changed. As to subject matter there are several subjects on the ZL1 which I don't even entertain... so I move on to the next subject.. Per this thread, to me it is easier for us to discuss the colors and get back on topic. And the topic is.............. are the colors good enough?
