Even at 300 horses, that isn't too bad. I guess what I'm after here is some responses from current V6 owners. Are you in anyway disappointed with the car? Do you wish that you would of went all out and got the SS?

For a few thousands bucks more, the V8 may be envious, just not practical though. For myself at least, I'm not rich, so the few extra grand for the V8 is a big decision. By looking to save some money, I'm wondering if I will be content with a 2LT V6? I guess I'm open to everyone's opinions and suggestions, but I'm most interested in those who own the V6 have to say.

Any and all feedback, comments, and suggestions are most very welcome and appreciated

I was a little disapointed performance wise when I got it, but with my minor bolt on mods its almost right up there with my old 69 383 roadrunner. Top end wise it blows it away, but this is a 6 spd manual compared to a 3 spd auto. Off the line my 383 had the grunt but not the traction. My Camaro is pulling 13.9s in the quarter so not bad for a V6 car weight 3700lbs with road manner to match, not to mention looks.

It will run with a stock performance small block V8 that has been accounted for traction loss if you are looking at historic 1/4 times.

I hated the stock exhaust and even hate a lot of exhausts that people are adding on this site. Yes I am full of hate. The only thing that I like is getting rid of the H-pipe. Its a must, then replace it with the Magnaflow resonated X-pipe. Then go with semi quiet free flowing Axle back setup. Gives a deep non buzzy no nonsense tone.

The only real reason I didnt get the V8 was because I knew I don't live in an area where I could get the most out of it. Shucks... everytime I get in my car I want to step into it, and do occiassionally if no one is around, but in my area we have speed cameras, cops all over the place. So I settled for the 6 hoping it would deter me from getting in trouble. Also I did think the V6 was a bit smoother riding than the V8 but that wasnt really a selling point.

Does anyone ever trade their V8 in on a new V6?

The only thing I regret about my 2LT is that I didn't get the RS package.

Nuttin' but respect for the V8...I've had a lot of 'em...but it's not for everyone.
1) I'm not a gearhead. I'm just an American muscle car enthusiast. Can I take apart and rebuild an engine? Hell no.
2) Who's insecure? Because I drive an SS you assume I'm (or anyone else) insecure? You know there's a saying about assuming things - has something to do with "ass" being part of the word.
3) This is the only real point you made. Everyone bought there camaro for x, y and z reasons. And that's that. No need to generalize people with "points" 1 and 2.

Its just a car so who cares what engine is in it, as long as you enjoy it that's all that matters. The SS is by all means nothing to feel macho or privileged over. There's always someone faster than you. Even then that doesn't make them any better than you as a person.

when chevy announced the camaro was coming back i was happy, when all of us were able to read and learn more about them i knew the v8's they were putting in the camaros were going to be great but i was even more impressed by the horsepower they were going to give us in the v6 model and when i went and test drove a v6 i couldn't have been happier. great horsepower out of a naturally aspirated motor, great throttle response, and still getting more than better mpg. i bought the v6 and never looked back.

I actually have one of each.....my wife drives the V6. She prefers the V6 over my V8 mainly because of the ride. It's a softer suspension, not as stiff. Also, we put her car on a 700 mile road trip about a month ago and I drove, nice ride all the way. And it had the power i wanted out on the highway. All in all, it's really about want you want, they are bot awesome cars....I just personally prefer the SS.

I absolutely love the V6 but in 3 years I hope to own an SS.

The V6 is more than enough, but you'll always find yourself wanting just a little more.

there are v6 owners selling/trading there cars for v8s all the time. yes its great car, but if you want a v8 or a car that can compete with one then i would recommend saving your money for something faster.

heres what you should do, test drive both. because if you deep down inside want the v8, and get the v6 you will regret it. and you will see that maybe you could have afford one.

I didn't read through all of this, but I just wanted to say why I bought the V6.

Less money for the car.
Uses less gas.
Less Car Insurance.
Less temptation to press down the pedal.

I don't drive wild, and I never really did, so the physical look of the car (which is the same for V6 or V8 for the most part) is what I was mostly interested in. I don't even have the RS package as I do NOT like 20"+ Tires. I would have really preferred either 16" or maybe 17" to the 18" that I have, but 18" is the smallest size available, so I went with that.

I have to tell you...to the original poster...you get quite a lot of car with these new Camaro's and you seriously will not be disappointed in every other aspect of the car (provided you aren't feeling the need for the V8 power) if you buy the V6.

In one other unique way, I kind of refer to my V6 as a V8 to some degree. No, I don't fool anyone with "SS" badges or the V8's front bumper...I would never to that. I just think of it in the mindset of a V8 because I also had a 1994 Camaro, that had a V6, and that model's V8 had 275hp. Now I have a V6 with 312hp!
