No... I like it the way they already have it. I just don't like those clear lights at all...

I agree completely. The clear lamps are ugly.

The rear of the pre-pro model is perfect.

That opening would be too small to bother having the TTops.

If they did TTops (I know they aren't) it would look better just removing the 'mohawk' OR molding the TTop glass to mimic it.

Agreed...the car looks absolutely vicious with the big black maw in the front, and the clear lenses stymie that. Definitely needs smoked lenses or covers or something to keep the headlights looking black.

And to that end, if they put daytime running lights on it, keep them in the fog lights or something in the lower fascia.

I'm loving the race car-style vertical slats in the rear diffuser.

yeah, I'm digging that, too... gives its a real race feel... and hopefully makes it to production... I'd love to see some sketches of what the final headlights are going to look like so we can do some accurate photo chopping of the front end

I agree; I think it looks awesome. There isn't really too much I'd change on this preproduction model.

I don't know how I feel about the sunroof though. I really like the idea of the sunroof, but if having a sunroof means having a flat roof, I don't know that I would order that option. I like the idea of T-tops however, I don't know how they would integrate it. I think they cause more chassis flex than a sunroof too.

OK. I understand what you're both saying. Explain this to me though. This obviously isn't the final production model yet, so there's no indication that the sunroof would be a standard feature. But, there are so many other potentially unresolved issues (gas cap, headlights, taillights, side vent cutouts, backup lights, probably more), why would you spend time doing a roof alternative that significantly changes one of the design elements of the car (the "mohawk" roof)? Multiple people have said this is the V6 base car version, so why show it with an added cost roof option? These are the first non-camo high resolution shots that GM's released, so why the sunroof?

Hopefully you're right and it's not a standard feature. I agree there are some people who might prefer this roof. There are probably people who would like bumper guards and a factory tissue dispenser too. I doubt that most of those are car guys, let alone Camaro guys.

because the sunroof is an integral part of the structure of the car... whereas gas caps, headlights (which are finalized, but not actually in place yet), tail lights (which are also finalized, I'm guessing), backup lights, etc. are all small things that do not determine whether or not the car is safe and goes out of control in bad weather conditions... and knowing how the car acts with the sunroof open and closed vs. a hardtop that has a full roof is a big deal to the engineers and testers... and since this may well be one of the only "body in white" cars without camo, you just get to see what you get to see... as time wears on (more like grinds slowly on), we will probably see more and more from the car's final stages... and might even get a hint of the underhood goodies later on.

and I, too, believe this is a V6 model... the exhaust looks a little small and it would make sense that the V6 model might not have the front air inlet cut out...it would also make sense that the V6 might already be available in other production cars, so that car would be closer to completion than the V8... but I'm betting the XM/OnStar antenna stays on there no matter the model you get, unless you get a model that specifically deletes XM and OnStar... my Dad's 2007 Malibu has that antenna, so the design might change a wee bit, but I'm betting it stays in that location.

Watch the generalizations there. There are plenty of car guys who want more out of their car than just a big engine. I'm a car guy through and through, and I want a sunroof. And there are plenty of people on this site alone who like it too. The fact is some of us want a more open top for a commute on a nice day, but still want the body rigidity and lighter weight that comes from having a coupe rather than convertible for the days we go out on the track.

Concerning the freaking out about the sunroof, I think back to when the most recent Z06 was first released, and someone had the roof fly off due to a production defect. The picture of that (below) shows that the roof panel is just that...a PANEL that can be replaced or interchanged depending on the options of the car. And despite the car being a non-sunroof version, there's still a notch cut out under the roof panel so that a panel with a sunroof can be installed at the assembly plant if the order calls for it.

Because that notch is always there, it's probably prudent for Chevy to test the sunroof out on the Camaro early to be sure everything will be structurally sound and that there won't be any leaks. And because the roof panel can be replaced, it would be easy to make a separate "mohawk" roof panel for a vehicle that doesn't have a sunroof.

So don't fret...if you don't want a sunroof, you'll very likely be able to get a mohawked non-sunroof car.
