Neighbors kid scratched our car!

So ever since we moved in to this place in June the neighbors kids always seem to play on our side of the yard even though we have nothing to play with on our side. Well today they were playing with Metal Poles they had and one of them decided to press it against our car and put her weight on the pole leaving three(that I can see, it's dark) white scratches. Wife immediately went out and they went away. She talked to the parents but they just said they'd talk to there kids.

Anyone got advice of what we should do? I don't see them paying since their cars look like junk and need repair themselves.

Btw This wasn't on our Camaro it was our Murano, but still a $15,000 car so we aren't happy one bit.

I'd demand for their insurance info. Or turn it in to your insurance and let your insurance company go after them.

See if they'll buff out before you deal with the neighbors. Nothing worse than a neighbor feud.

You should have called the police immediately and filled out a complaint so they can't deny it.

I'd start by putting up a fence.

I wouldnt pay out of pocket at all not one penny. You should call there insurance company and if they dont want to give it to you act like you forgot about it and wait for them to do something like that again and trust me they will and when they do snap some photos. I know it seems like a lot but if the parents wont take responsibility for their own kids then it just something that needs to be done. Or you could take the Gran Turino approach and have that kid do a lot of yard work lol.

Neighbors or not, if their kids scratched the car, they should pay for it.

Who on earth let's their kids play with metal poles near someone's car anyway?

I'm amused at the suggestions of calling the police. There is no crime so what kind of report do you want them to take?
This is a civil matter between neighbors, police do not get involved or investigate civil matters.
You can sue the neighbors in small claims but they won't pay. This is why you have insurance, it's called comprehensive coverage.
