Question Exposed mufflers

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before........however....

Don't you think the mufflers should have a black finish coating on them so they're not so obvious ???

Will anyone be painting theirs ???

I state my case in this view

WOW! I had heard someone mention that but had not seen any pics myself. Definitely going to get some axle backs to fix that. I was thinking of getting the GMPP exhaust. I wonder if the mufflers are smaller on it.

Hmmm i was wondering about that.

Imo they should made the rear diffuser (black thing) cover up most of the mufflers

like go back farther

That pic is the old rear difuser (or whatever it's called)...the new one is actually longer in the middle and does a better job of hiding the mufflers...though not enough in my opinion and the exhausts will be one of the first things I do.

Not sure why they have those huge canisters under the car but they are ugly...even if they are better hidden than in that pic.

Not worried about it. The exhaust is one of the first things I do to the car.

I don't think you would find a practical paint that will hold up to the temperatures there that will be easy/cheap to apply. I don't know what they are coated with or if they are stainless but I hope so or they will end up looking really bad.

I was looking at some pics and well if your looking at the camaros back end from a low angle You can clearly see the mufflers sticking out

but if your close they are hidden

Yeah, I didn't like that either. I think they should paint the diffuser to match the body color too, on that note. Those ugly mufflers are already motivating me to swap them for something prettier (and meaner, haha).

On the Camaro official site when the camaro is being built it shows the mufflers being black. but who knows for sure until the first one is delivered and pics are taken of a production car.

here's a CTF pic I took on the road a couple of weeks ago. At the time it didn't stand out but after reading your question and looking again...

I don't think its a huge deal, but I can see how someone might not like it.

Full size pics are in the Troy link in my sig.

There are two different rear diffusers - one for LS/LT and one for SS. The SS one dips down more in the middle and does a better job of hiding the mufflers but not completely.

I'll be painting mine satin black. I've used this stuff before on my '56 Chevy exhaust to basically hide the pipes so the 24" chrome tips stood out more. Worked out fine for me.

Once I can find the extra money, I'll probably pull the rear diffuser off and have it painted gloss black to make it look a bit nicer. I won't paint it a matching Victory Red because I like the contrast it provides on the rear.

The v8/ss mufflers are probably bigger than the ls/v6 right?
