been told mine sounds like a "nasty v8" by a few people.. ive noticed long tubes give a more raspy sound, the short tube's really deepen the growl

the thing is there are several sounds qualities at play
- how loud
- pitch
- noise (rasp, rattle etc)
- consistency across the RPMs

The video of the v6 in post 1 is decent in terms of loudness, is a low pitch (which to me is the most important thing), there's no rasp at the end of an accel or a rattle through the rpm range, and you hear a fluid sound from start to finish of each rev

I wish we could get a quality video of the v8 cat back system on a v6

either cherry bomb's or the stock one - heard both work fine with good results

your exhaust manifold/headers are integrated, so no header magic for you :(

Its the long tube headers forsure....without them its pretty much impossible to get that amount of growl.

Even without headers, the V6 can typically sound very V8-like down in lower RPMs while cruising around, but if you want that type of roar you need to go with LT headers.

Shorty headers can make a very nice difference as well with certain exhausts, but LTs will add a throatier sound in addition to more HP in the end.

Headers certainlty make a difference on the V6. The videos don't show but there is a noticable difference in a side by side in person demo of the exhaust of the V6 vs V8. V8 is a lot deeper. Not bagging on any V6 cars out there since we did build one of the fastest V6's in the Phoenix area right now.

Ok so about the 2012.... They added integrated exhaust to simplify things but they also got 11 hp more for doing it. Shorty headers give a similar bump in hp. My question is, do you think the new sound of the LFX ( with aftermarket exhaust) will be similar to the sound that short headers add since that's kinda what we have now?

Man that sounds throaty as hell" put a smile on my face talked to him awhile and made his jaw drop again when I mentioned hp and the fact I was getting 30 mpg highway.

the entire exhaust system has to work together, but the headers make a huge difference.
I get that sometimes too...they always think it's a V8 because of the sound...even the place I took it to get my oil changed asked that the first time I brought it in
