I agree, I went with CAI because of the insulated box. The closed box system does the best job of avoiding hot air from the engine compartment and will draw some cold air from the ground if you remove the OEM washer bottle.

If Halltech would put a lid on his I think he would be king of the hill.

I’m just grateful that Jannetty did his research that allowed me to buy an aftermarket intake that actually improves HP.

I drove the car around for an hour or more then I popped the hood and with a laser temp gun took the temp of the outside of the CAI tube, it was 137 F. I pulled the CAI tube off at the throttle body and pointed the laser at the inside towards the bend and it was 137 F. There is no difference between the outside of the coated tube and the inside. I have pictures if anybody wants me to post them but it is what it is sorry.

I going to wrap the tube with pipe insulation and check the inside of the tube in the next day or so, I will post the results.

I have the CAI with the ADM scoop and I'm very happy with it. I also bought the rotofab washer relocation kit, but I have the hotckis strut brace and the rotofab washer kit doesn't fit, so just be careful and keep that on mind. I went with the apex washer kit and it works just fine.

Can you post a pic with that strut brace installed?

Is there any major difrence between the ADM and CAI intake? Matareial, cost, Filter, our both tubes heat coated on the inside etc?

Thanks, Greg

CAI insulates the inside of their box and it makes a BIG difference. They both use coated aluminum tubes that get hot when you drive them. I just put pipe insulation on the outside of my coated aluminum tube and could tell a difference when I was driving home. I will pull the tube off and take a temp reading tonight when I get to work and post it.

The insulation CAI uses on the inside of their box keeps all the heat from the engine compartment from coming through. I haven’t taken a temp reading but you can put your hand on it and it feels cool after driving for an hour.

Thanks for the feedback. The only negative that I had heard on the CAI piece is the filter is not the best. I heard it was a overseas filter not a K&N or Airraid filter. I think that might be true on the ADM as well. A high qulity filter is very important to me. I do drive my car a 1/2 mile in and out of gravel roads. It sucks.

Very nice looking Engine bay. Looks like you have the hh relocate kit and does that carbon fiber slip over the Intake? I know you have a lot more under the hood than that but was curious on the carbon fiber intake and if was just a cover?

I don't know much but i would imagine these aftermarket intakes are not really best for daily driving on gravel roads. If I had to drive on gravel everyday I would stick with the stock intake. I'll add that I've read tons of stuff on this site and never seen someone say that about the CAI filters. CAI out does k&n in every test I've seen and CAI won't throw codes.....

The SS is a second car. I only take it out a couple times a Week. We use pre filters on our ATV and UTV. I guess I could just put a pre filter for piece of mind.
