I think the black hood insert with the black stripe would look good. It would give it a nice contrast.

I seriously debated on changing mine to the exposed cf today just from looking at the pictures of the carbon concept but, i really like the idea of the stripe and i don't think the stripe that comes with the exposed cf insert would show too well on the AGM.

I think between the choices you have trade offs. If you want to have total
contrast then go with the black out look over the carbon fiber and the black strip. That's going to give that concept SSX look. That being said there's something about the look of that exposed carbon fiber, and the possibilities of adding more carbon fiber around the car and even under the hood. It really boils down to what your wanting your car to look like as the end result. As has been stated before your the one that will be driving the ZL1 your buying. Make it your own that's part of what I believe makes this a fun car to drive and own. Seeing some of the new products being introduced is allowing me to add some new modes to my car "when I can afford it". If it helps any I'm going with the exposed carbon fiber, but will go with out strips atm. I have other plans as far as adding some color to the outside and the strips might be over kill.

Carbon fiber FTW. Why pay all that money for it and then paint over it.

100% Exposed CF all the way. That exposed CF looks so clean and unique. At least that is my preference. Ever since the ZL1 was released I always wished they had made the carbon visible, so when they released they were going to give the option, i was extremely happy.

I am torn here. I like the exposed CF but even though they put alot of money in the finish I am worried about how it will hold up over time. I like the look of the strip over the whole car which I am not sure the exposed CF would look good with the stripe kit. I have went back on forth on this 3 times. my intial was get the CF (just seems like a higher end look) then I saw a silver car with the black stripe, matt hood insert and liked it.
honestly I think they both look good and no matter which I pick I will proabaly someday wish i had done the other. that is my MO. once pricing on options get looked down it might help me decide. IF the spliter or rear diffuser were CF then it would also make it a no brainer for me. I think the one knock I see is the hood insert is the only CF. unlike the ZR1 which has it in CF roof, slitter, etc. To me mixing the black ABS and CF doesn't look right. It would look wierd to me if on my Z06 I did CF spliter but left the rear defuser and spoiler. now if I did them all it would look clean to me. |

OK, read everyone's opinion on the white ZL1 with and without Exposed CF and everyone was helpful to the White ZL1 issue so now let's hear the thoughts with the Victory Red. I love the Victory Red but am having a mental battle over the Exposed CF with the Dark Gray Stripe versus the Black CF with Black stripes, thoughts and opinions are welcome...

I have been torn like you between the summit white and the victory red.
For I would still be getting the exposed carbon fiber for either color. The strip issue is on that I would want to see it before I ordered it. If I really liked what they are doing with the grey strip then I'll get it.

I am going with Victory Red and Exposed CF Insert. I think this option will make the car stand out an probably may not any additional stripes. Might consider custom CF stripe on back trunk lid and skip the top stripe due to the sunroof option.
