they'll charge what they want because they know people are going to buy them regardless. i'm willing to bet that there won't be a single '12 ZL1 that isn't spoken for by the time they get here. even if people start backing out, i'm sure there will be more people right there waiting to step up and take their spot.

Correct. And for those who need the loan to purchase the car but are worried about the MSRP being to high that they won't be able to afford the payments maybe some reconsideration is needed. If the car payment puts you right on the line for making your budget every month perhaps a cheaper model should be in your future. I've drawn a line on price based on value and not affordability. There comes a point where a few extra dollars spent yields a greater increase in product outcome. As far as financing at GM's 6 to 8%, I'll pay cash thanks. GM makes enough off markup already.

Financing at 6 or 8 percent? These days one can easily find auto financing for less than 2.5 percent at a retail bank, and at even lower rates through credit unions.
GM doesn't make anything off of markup. It's the dealers that make the extra profit on markup.

In Canada you won't find anything at 2.5%. As far as markup I was referring to the margin of profit over and above the cost of manufacturing included in the MSRP.

My local dealer says that when they do arrive (sometime late Jan/early Feb) that there will be around a 20K markup and they expect folks to pay, stating that if you want to own the first one, you/they will pay.

My dealer just remodled their showroom. I expect they'll be able to pay off some of the cost with the added on market premium over MSRP on the 6 they're getting. I guess we'll all know next week.

My understanding is that GM is making ALL of it's Chevy dealers remodel their stores so that they look more alike and have the same standards.
