For everyone who plans to do an exhust header change. The torque spec. on the exhaust bolts is only 15 ft lbs.

with a lt installation do you remove the h-pipe? if not, replace the h-pipe with a resonated xpipe and keep the resonators. it sound be perfect then.

mrt2 is the exhaust to get if you plan going with LTs.

I managed to remove them after few hours. (weekend is gone) but it actually sound a little better. I know i put more than 15 pounds of torque on those bolts. but now I have all of them in. [I loosen all the bolts and it went in nice and smooth]

Here is one thing. Somehow I lost 2 bolts... I found similar bolts that I have (from the windshield fluid bottle that I removed earlier this month). They look almost the same. Will this be an issue?

Also I got check engine light (expected) and the remote start wont work. I researched and found out that when check engine light is on, remote start wont work until you shut the light off. (unexpected but its ok my tune is coming in hopefully this week).

I also just noticed that it was 15lb of tq when I was looking through the GM svc manual, but I went by what was stated in the camaro now mag's BBK LT install at the time which I think was 18 or 19lb ft of tq since I didn't have the svc manual.

Also, for me there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to use the tq wrench on some of those bolts. If you guys know how big the tq wrench is then you should know what I am talking about. I had to do some bolts by feel which worked out pretty good at the end because I still don't have any leaks after 12k on the odo. I installed mine right at 1k.

but you are right.. here is the svc manual.

Thanks for posting up the info. This will certainly help others.

Not much difference between 15 and 20 lbs. But there is a big difference between 15 and super tight. Which is my point. I normally over tighten bolts. But when it comes to the camaro I am really trying to follow the recommendations for torque on the bolts.

i just noticed i ordered magnaflow true x pipe not resonated x pipe

no shipping tracking number yet so hopefully it didnt ship out.

now i cant find any resonated x pipe on ebay, amazon, google shopping.

where are they sold?

also I just took about an hour of drive and im not liking this, I need it way lower than what it is right now.

I like loud exhaust but the drone on this is crazy. My ears are vibrating every time I got above 2k rpm. will the x resonated pipe help a lot?

I hope the x resonated pipe will help a lot. also 2.5" pipes would help?

Good Luck and keep us informed about the bolt problem.
^^^^This is very very good advice. All of it. Do not worry about the heat shields. You want to see those headers when you pop the hood. And yes a Magnaflow Xpipe will quiet you down and should restore some of that depth you looking for in your exhaust note.

You have to find them via part number. Magnaflow has them listed under universal muffler "tru X perforated core" the part number for the 2.5 is 11386 and 11385 for 2.25

ARK is definitely the shyzznit!!

I just placed an order for the above item. But it says 11385 2.5". I ordered it anyway and whatever comes comes. If the 2.5 comes i will just have the shop change my pipes.

Will it help if i upgrade the pipes to 2.5?
Is this the right item above?
