Hey guys and gals! Did anyone go to the Newton run? How was it? My trip to Arkansas was a blast, nothing like sitting in your Camaro cutting through the countryside in rural Arkansas. There isn't a straight road down there; just like North Carolina. I didn't see too many deer on the way down but I saw plenty on the way back up here. I break-checked a couple of times. I am now at 31,000+ miles haha.

Paul, I'm looking forward to the pics from the shows.

I have already posted this on another thread, but for some reason getting an answer from someone that I have met here in Iowa seems more legit. So this is what happened. I just winterized my camaro today and I disconnect the battery and closed the trunk when I realized that I can not get back in. I tried folding the back seat down, but my subs are in the way for me to crawl to the back of the trunk to pull the release. Some have said that I can either get a battery charger or use jumper cables to get some power to the car so I can use my trunk release either inside the car or on my key ring. Will adding another power source to the terminals under my hood allow me to pop the trunk? Thanks guys.

saw your other thread and all the suggestions seem fine. double check your owners manual. If tihis was me i would grab one of my other cars for a power source and hook up the jumpers. like i said something in the owners manual covers this. sorry i can't give u a positive answer i am away from home.

So you mean I should go buy one of these and place it on the terminals under my hood and that will give me enough power to unlock the trunk?

To late. Last night I pulled my battery out of my impala and used jumper cables. Got the trunk open. Can I leave the battery hooked up throughtout the winter? And would I place the trickle charger on the battery itself or can I attach it to the terminals under the hood.

Maybe a bunch of us could get together and rent a heated garage or building for the winter to store our cars in and split the rent.

What does everybody think about that?

Also, Nitro Beagle brought up the subject of winter storage and I sent him a checklist and will post the same checklist here...

See rule #11 for sure...

Things to do for storage...
  1. Detail the car.
  2. Sea Foam(fuel stabilizer) in gas tank and then fill up and drive for a few minutes.
  3. Pump the tires up to 50 psi to avoid flatspotting if you don't have "FlatSpotters" to prevent it.
  4. In an unheated garage, cover garage floor with a waterproof tarp as moisture barrier. Heated garage, you're good.
  5. Cardboard or carpeting under tires to add another layer of protection between floor and tires.
  6. Moth balls by the tires to keep critters away
  7. PLAIN/UNTREATED charcoal briquettes in the passenger cabin and trunk to absorb odors.
  8. Steel wool in exhaust pipes to keep critters out(leave note on stearing wheel as a reminder)
  9. Hook up battery tender.
  10. Cover car with a NOAH car cover.
  11. DO NOT start until ready to drive it again in the spring. Letting car sit and idle for any amount of time DOES NOT get rid if the condensation that is created in the exhaust system.
  12. Check with your finance company to see if you can drop full coverage and just keep comprehensive since the car will be in storage. Some will allow it, some won't.
here you go rberns James did a throrough list of how to put your Camaro into hibernation for the winter with a battery tender.
