The ZL1 went around the ring in something like 7 minutes and 41 seconds. Although nothing has been confirmed for the GT500, individual spectators have reported the GT500 going around the ring in the 7 minute and 34 second range. I have also read somewhere, that it did it in 7 minutes and 31 seconds, but nothing official has backed that yet. I don't see it unreasonable though.

Obviously, with all of Fords upgrades to the GT500, it will be faster than the ZL1. It will be lighter and will have more horsepower. No doubt they have improved what they needed to.

I read somewhere, that they will have either 305's or 315's on the rear. So that should help out with traction, quite a bit.

Yes, the GT500 will be quicker, in a line and around a track, but to be 2nd best (performance wise) is nothing to be ashamed of here. They are both beefy cars.

??? IIRC, the 500 in GT500 never had anything to do with how much power it made.

I do not find it embarrassing at all, considering how the LSA does it with 2 valves per cylinder 376 cubic inches and a 1900 TVS supercharger and the svt does it with 4 valves per cylinder and 351 cubic inches and a 2300 TVS supercharger. The ford should be making a whole lot more given the inherited advantages of ohc 4 valve air flow. Ford has responded as we all knew they would, but with a little extra zing.

Given all this info from ford I have only one statement to make.
I AM KEEPING THE FAITH!!! That is all.

althought the extra hp... prices will remain the same on the gt500... this is how ford works... more power for less... we will see how this affects the price difference on this car... if not ford is more bang for your buck

You would think with an extra $52 Billion dollars that GM could find a few extra horsepower to match the GT500. I'm a long time Chevrolet fan but congrats to Ford again.

To a certain point, but I know I don't have the money to exchange my car every year for the newest baddest engine, or when a car becomes obsolete after one model year.

Let's hope the ZL1 can win the price war part of it

Ya, I've seen mustangs with 100 hp over the camaro still get smashed. I wouldn't be to worried just yet. Mustang has a tough time translating numbers into raw power.
