An article that generally agrees with my thoughts on the subject – waiting until both cars are on track to crown a king.

Unless Chevy offers an aftermarket upgrade through GM Performance that still maintains the factory warranty (similar to how Ford does with allowing you to swap out superchargers to make more power and still be covered by the manufacturer), it's like comparing apples to oranges. Speaking of which, it would be really nice if they did offer us performance upgrades like that while supporting the warranty. Step your game up GM.

To be fair, nobody has handed anyone their ass yet.

This is only the weigh-in before a boxing match

They added 100 horsepower, .4 liters and a bigger blower...and still no gas guzzler tax. That's impressive.

How they price these beasts should be interesting.

This thing is going to destroy the ZL1 at least in a straight line. I sure hope GM has some kind of answer for 2013 or 2014.

It's still gonna have shitty traction. They keep stuffing more power in these things without first taking a look at what the real issue is - traction. Ford owners (for years) have been complaining about lack of power to ground. What they should have done is made significant changes to the suspension, drivetrain to handle the power. Then maybe bump the power up a bit. Not go balls to the wall and do smaller traction management.

Dont be so sure about Chrysler fading.......they know what Ford is doing....they just gotta top that.

The 392 can already do low 12's stock......just like the ZL1

I am guessing the 2013 GT500 will be in the 11's stock

Either way.....Ford just set the bar higher......

Do they not realize that, that gives chevy ammo or a goal to shoot for in one year? For 2012 the camaro is still the car to beat STOCK VS STOCK in this war. Not a 2012 vs 2013 or a 2011 vs 2012 or however these magazines compare them. I am tired of different year comparisons. Do a straight up base camaro and mustang NON-PAID for or BIAS run on them both, then the same for the top of the line camaro and mustang out of the FORD or CHEVY factory and lets see who wins. That means Shelby Mustangs are out. If they were in, that means Hennessy camaro would beat it hands down EVERY time. So factory built only cars, and guess what... camaro wins. No matter what you say a shelby mustang is NOT FORD BUILT. It is SHELBY factory built. The camaro ZL1 is CHEVY/GM built. Let the bashing and stupid talk BEGIN!!!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
You realize the 13 GT500 and 12 ZL1 will be hitting the showroom floor at basically the same time, right?

Yeah, most cars hit the showroom floor the year prior to the model year.

I was driving my 2010 Camaro SS in June of 09.

The 12 ZL1 should already be on the streets.

Well according to the lead story on the front page:

2012 Camaro ZL1 Price Announced at $54,095

I'd put money on the GT500 being much more expensive. The current GT500 is $49K... I wouldn't be surprised if these updates push it to $59k base.

Nobody's ass has been handed to anybody! Ford hands Motor Trend some hand built non-production Mustangs and throws out some huge horsepower numbers and suddenly my ass has been handed to me and GM has dropped the ball? Wha? If you want a Ford, go buy one. I am sure they will be happy to have your business.

We have seen the current GT500 have traction issues...so adding more horsepower and torque is going to solve that? NO. Transmission issue?...more torque is usually NOT a good idea. They changed some trim and the taillights, slapped in a bigger engine with a bigger blower, and some minor tweaks and suddenly all the problems they have been having magically fade away? No.

When Ford posts a Nurburgring time faster than the ZL1, then they have something to crow about. When Ford actually BEATS a ZL1, then they have something to shout about. ONLY after the two cars face off will we know who's ass gets handed to whom. Right now all we have is fanboy speculation.
