Not really. I'm on a couple Vette boards and they aren't worried.

It's a reference to the deck honing done on the cylinders to make them extra precise in alignment.

No -- we are not going to cancel production of the car.

And I must say that by reading most of your posts, you'll be disappointed no matter what we do.
When I'm paying top dollar for a car, I don't want the competition kicking my ass.

This is pretty interesting. Biggest issue was no traction. ZL1 doesn't have the same HP's as a HP 650 though.

I know what he was referring to, but the point itself is ludicrous. If you think that gives any kind of comparative advantage to the LSA you're dreaming. That's like a ford nutswinger bashing the LSA for not having plasma-wire arc technology.

There is some desperate reaching for logic in here and it's a bit embarrassing. There's no reason for this. The ZL1 is going to be one monstrous car that will tear up the track and be a dream to daily drive. Right now it seems Ford will likely be one-upping the ZL1's performance on track, at least when equipped with the performance package, but that is yet to be seen and if it's so, Chevy will respond and that doesn't detract from how awesome the 2012 ZL1 is. However, making negative statements about the mustang in regard to performance or reliability is just ridiculous conjecture with no logic whatsoever. All we know right now is that Ford has a 650hp, 3850 lb gt500 with completely reworked suspension, diff, engine, transmission, and axle; that's ALL we know.

WHO CARES ABOUT 'RING TIMES?

Man, seriously... WTF is the fascination with ring times besides a topic to argue about on forums?

For the most part, everyone he is mostly concerned with straighline acceleration and speed. At this point, the GT500 just has more and weighs less.

Of course this was all planned by GM. They must of gotten wind of the release and planned this through. W/E, no biggie. Competition is a good thing.

I made this point earlier

I guess I need to get out of my cave and check out some road racing? I mean do you race against other people in your 40 to 70K personal car? Boy I wish I had that type of cash! What happens if you hit someone or someone who is not a pro hits you? Taking a expensive car around a race track and not being a pro driver just seems crazy unless you just have cash to blow?? And ANY RING TIME seems to have more to do with the DRIVER than the car ehh? I mean if I drove around a track in a Lambo my times would be about the same as Jeff Gordon in a Chevy Cruz?

So what really counts is how fast the Camaro/Mustang/Challenger go in a straight line!! If you have a 2012 ZL1 and your neighbor buys a 2013 Shelby we will OWN you at the light PERIOD!!! Now around a track that probably depends on who is the better driver PERIOD!! It is this reason why the ZL1 came out with higher HP numbers than the 2011 Shelby, and its this reason the people who by the 2012 ZL1 will be hosed

I am a Camaro guy and even though my SS gets spanked by the 5.0 and Boss Mustangs I love it. I was driving a Camaro when nobody liked them and Chevy had to stop making them. Now when I do drop the 60K on the ZL1 I do want the one that is the most competitive against the Shelby. I don't mind having a car that is a little slower, but right now the ZL1 is only a tenth of a second quicker that the Boss302

What I got the answer the 2013 Shelby probably will be about as fast as the ZL585 and around the same price? Soooooo maybe I will just by a ZL585 and not worry about silly Ford

No, I guess having a non-fully forged rotating assembly flinging up and down up to 6,500 times a minute under load and boost with slightly out of alignment mass produced cylinders isn't an issue for any engine. Why would lateral strain be an issue?

Ok.

How many Road Course events have you done in your SLP car? How many AutoCross Events? Drift? If you do in fact go ahead and RR/AC the car then I can see where "ring" times make sense.

But, lets not go there... 99% of the people here either race the piss out of their cars on the highway in a STRAIGHT LINE or go to car shows and enjoy the occasional freeway on ramp in a STRAIGHT LINE. Feeling lucky when you pull up to a light and eye the stang next to you? Well, the next few seconds, hopefully, you'll be whooping some horse-tail in a STRAIGHT LINE.

Just saying. Not everyone really takes these cars on a road course and piss off every part of the car. Most like to play and that playing is mostly in a straight line.

I just find arguing over times on a track that practically no one here has even seen the damn track as pointless. However, what do we all care about? Whipping off the smirk of the douchebag that lines up next to you. Plain and simple.
