so with Auto trans, GG tax, suede package, carbon fiber option, and sunroof...

that puts a fully-loaded zl1 at almost more than 62,000...? BEFORE Tax...

SHIT. I feel sorry for the fellas who expected it to be around 51-52.

Cannot wait to see how many allocation spots are emptied out. LMAO

I'm a little confused how the CTS-V does a 0-60 times of 3.9secs when it weighs 100lbs more, has 24hp less and has less tire width. Probably a gearing advantage with the CTS-V. IDK.

I will bet that we will see mag tests that pull 0-60 times and 1/4 miles times less than what GM is reportiing.

This is going to be a pricy vehicle with options and all I have to say is Ford really took the wind out of Chevy's sails with their news yesterday.
People are going to buy and talk about the Mustang just because of it's 650hp rating.
Well that was certainly Fords intention. They did the same with the 5.0 and damaged the launch of the 2010 Mustang with the 4.6. The Mustang has never recovered from the premature announcement. What is really shows is how much Ford worries about what Chevy does with the Camaro. YTD I think the Camaro has sold 15,000 more vehicles than Ford. The other little Ford tid bit is to expect to pay at least a 25% premium for the 650 GT pushing the base price into the mid 60s.

The ZL1 has a documented and posted Ring time. There are rumors that a special read GT 650 runs faster, but there are no documented Ring times for the Mustang. The only Fords on the Ring list are the Ford GT and Focus.

Anyone that expected the ZL1 to be less than $50K base was was and is an eternal optimist. We already knew the GT500 retailed for about $50K and the ZL1 would debut a couple of grand above it. The ZL1 is priced exactly where I and many others expected. The new GT650 will be at a 25% premium or higher. No news here. Big HP cost BIG Money.

I know a little off topic but will we be seeing a 100% complete ZL1 at the la show? All the zl1's running around aren't legit yet, the carbon one at sema is the closest to a factory car right now.

I would bet their "rolling start" comment alluded to the standard 1/4 mile practice of shallow staging meaning you get about 8 inches of forward movement before you break the timing start lights. This practice obviously gives you an advantage over someone who doesn't shallow stage.

I checked Dragtimes for Shelby GT500 ETs and MPH and found one running 119.440 MPH and it ran an 11.95 which is consistent with the GM claim for the ZL1. When you look at the mods on the Shelby you see it's not stock and it's running Drag Radials. So if the ZL1 runs those times on street tires, your imagination will see it running mid 11s. Very interesting days ahead!!!
