2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 650 HP! How will it stack up against the ZL1?

Well now you can see why Chevy waited so long to reveal details and pricing on the ZL1. Chevy isn't stupid either, they had to have known that Ford was going to do this.

I'm VERY interested to see if Ford can actually put 650 hp to the ground in a package that anyone can drive

That's great that it can do 200 mph, but can the car handle? No car can drive twisties at 200 mph.

Camaro5's most wanted I personally would never put a factory car against a AM race car but that's just me. Maybe if I had an NA 5.8 I would try it but never with a supercharger. I have an RFA scheduled for the 22nd, 70% chance I can walk without a limp.. still no road racing though but I can shift again without flinching (no leg pain but I will still have back pain). Also, I am currently in negotiations for said Terminator, being that it's a '13 I want it in unlucky red but... she wants the press release Blue/black stripe because she seen a grabber 5.0 and couldn't look away... and always reminds me when we see it that I should have got the blue.. and that I can't clean my black Mustang because I am broken...

its the idea of it that people like. most people who buy expensive cars with powerful engines are not going to track it or race it.

just saying a mustang has 650HP+ 200MPH means the car is a beast.

Stock GT500s have regularly clocked 190+ and some have reached 200. What makes the 2013 reach 200 easily is merely the 7000rpm redline in 5th, and the extra cooling in the engine. At the extreme loads required to push the current GT500 to 200, the pistons can fail if the run to 200 takes too long. The 2013 solves this problem by having better cooling and a higher redline.

If you really must know, and regardless if I was there or not, there were people running watches during testing. I have spent pretty much 30% of my time since October 2010 following this car and, the rare opportunity arose so I took it. I wasn't as lucky as Shaun Bailey and John Lamm, but... I was in the middle of something I had worked on for almost 9 months. Here is what we seen, and remember, this is just rumor... When we drove up the 2nd week of June. I know but, it is very possible that the same car at the show is the same car that was being tested.... Have you ever seen a car go to a car show with scratches on the taillights and decklid?



It is possible that these cars are as finished as the Barrett Jackson ZL1 was. Which was a wrapped test car...
