A ZR1 is in a class that the Mustang will never Zee. 7:19 @ The Ring.

I have nothing against drag racing. We support a long list of drag racers. On the other hand, when you are 16 you enjoy 10.5 second encounters. Most brag about them. With a bit more perspective, those don't measure up. If all we want out of our private activities and our cars is a ten second burst we aren't asking for much. From my Modern Muscle car I want a quickie when I want one and the staying power to run as long as I want when ten seconds won't do.

This car is the best because fill in the blank with only one item is not a discussion about a car. It is a discussion about one aspect of a car. If all you want to talk about is which Modern Muscle car is the fastest on the strip there should be thread so titled.

ZL1 - GT500 - MOPAR CHARGER - SRT 8

Which is the best AUTOMOBILE?

Yeah but by that time the new C7 Corvette will be there to put the new Viper in its place. Dont get me wrong I love the Dodge Vipers they are very fast and kool cars BUT Chevrolet has the Corvette Racing team and everyone dialed in on making the next Vette the best ever.

That time is ridiculous. The driver was off the charts on it. I have a suspicion there were some tweaks that were not made public. It doesn't matter. It ran what it ran. I am really looking forward to the new Viper. Did I mention there is a Viper at Pedders, white, blue stripes, five points, all original, 7,215 miles

Well it isn't out yet. And as a Mustang friend said, it is reputed to cost over $70000 from the news.

I'm not overlooking the Corvette it's just not an equal comparison. When I bought my Z06 I didn't compare it to the GT500, I compared it to the the Audi R8, Nissan GTR, Dodge Viper, and so forth. The Vette to me is in a different league period.

And good one about Stew that made my day lol....

You also know I am the proud owner of a reasonably competent Mustang. The Camaro has clear edge in brakes stock to stock. The Mustang has a clear edge in weight. I can tit for tat both vehicles longer than I care to type. If I ran GM, the Camaro would be lighter. If I ran Ford the money spent on the new engine would have gone into brakes, braces and suspension. My guess is a bone stock ZL1 will out run a bone stock 2013 GT 500 over a20 lap session. One lap would be a drivers race.

You know why I say this so I'll put you on the spot and ask you to explain why ;-)

Yes, I know.. the carbon fiber driveshaft will turn into molten resin. I am confident that over the 13 months at Nurburgring, they would have identified an issue. Also note that testing was performed without a heat shield. Since the GT and Boss 302 average about 5-7mpg during race conditions, it is pretty safe to assume that both the GT500 and ZL1 would be out of gas before 20 laps at Willow or VIR. It is possible that the ZL1 could finish at Laguna but with the big elevation change, that would likely make up for the slightly shorter track. Portland (would be very close) and Lime Rock would be the ZL1's best bet in a 20 lap race.

Regardless of driveshafts and gasoline, we will probably discover that both of these cars are using DOT 3 which would instantly disqualify them for any track duty. The Boss uses DOT 3 and even at 3600lbs it will boil the fluid...

Track Ready!!! Just let me change all my fluids, tires, wheels, suspension (both the ZL1 and possibly the GT500 will have illegal equipment), add in a roll bar/cage, eliminate my supercharger and 400-600lbs and I will be ready...

Anyway, I think this is pretty classy... Happy Anniversary SVT!!!

It was a 1.907 and still have the stock 3.06 gear. Couldnt even change the gear if I wanted to anyway. Still no tuning for the damn thing yet.

Heres the slip..............

You are again making assumptions. We have absolutely no info on these cars but that they are coming. Who knows what the outcome will be.

Nice pass. The 3.08 gears help you not spin as much out of the gate!!

Need to put some real tires "Slicks" on my Shelby next year, and stop the crazy wheel spin. No doubt it will run 11.50's or maybe even 40's with mid or low 1.60 foot's
