Another Quote from Al O. re: the ZL1

"For Camaro fans, trust me, we are always listening to your feedback, and working hard to keep the Camaro in the lead."

My thoughts: If you are always listening to our feedback, how about a fix for our tops? God knows I emailed you and you said your people would contact me. Never happened. Thanks Al you have now made me never want to purchase another GM product again.

We all have to do our part...I'm not defending Al or GM, but did you call GM customer service? A couple of hundred thousand cars built there's going to be some with problems. A company with several thousand employees and they are bound to allow someone fall through the cracks.
I do feel your pain. I've worked with me dealer and customer service and still have an oil pan leaking!!! I have been cussing and bad talking GM for weeks!
Well I just found out the problem, the dealer doesn't want to fix my car because they do not have enough confidence in their own service department to dismantle the entire front end and put it back in a manner that I will be pleased with. They can't admit this to GM because GM will scold them for not providing the service needed. So I'm in the middle, screwed!
What I am doing is staying in contact with my GM customer service rep. Until they give up, I'm not going to give up. It's not Al or any other GM executive, engineer, etc. job to call you. So, did you call customer service and get case started????

A lot of "faith" and "trust" has been lost for me stemming all the way back to Oshawa last June.

Jeff Morris got me a case the middle of September. I have been in constant contact with both the dealer and GM on a weekly basis. My top was replaced 6 weeks after ownership then needs another one 12 days after replacement. The dealer nor dealers won't fix due to there is not a fix yet. I am going through the buy back process. I have emailed Al several times and he said his people would contact me and make it right. They have not. As a consumer that spent over 40 grand on my car only to have it out of service or waiting on parts for 47 of the 106 days of ownership is not acceptable in my view. If you disagree please feel free to respond. Also, if you check the threads my car isn't the only one with these issues. By my count there is over 60 with top problems just on this forum plus another 15 or so I got on Facebook. To me this is not an isolated incident. I will not rest until there is a fix. Call it Occupy whatever did get the tops fixed.

Gm you have a hard top. How would you like a rust hole in your roof that keeps coming back with no fix in sight? You would be a little pissed I bet. Right?

Just got mine back from the dealership Wednesday. After 5 trip and 3 tops it looks like GM finally have worked out the TSBs. GM sent multiple people to the dealership to make sure the fixes were done correctly. They ran the top up and down to verify pinch points and tape was intalled on the 3 locations that have recently been posted. Had the top down for a couple days (56 Degrees) and so far no rub or scuff marks. I wish I got the GM guys involved earlier in the process.
I guess my advice is, make sure the dealership is getting GM rep involved and have them there for the top install and verification of pinch points when the top is put down. Anybody with a vert 2011 or 2012 should do a lotion test to check for pinch points with the rails and get some tape on these points. Simple fix it seems.
Now she needs a good wash and wax and top treatment to ward off the winter weather ahead.

Yes, I would be and I am, just a different reason. I did not understand your first post. It sounded like you were waiting on GM to make the first move. I see you are not...good luck

Sorry Bird, It wasn't my intention to start a poop storm. I feel you pain. What I meant was don't give up on the Camaro. It's a bitchin' car.
I hope it all works out and you get the ride you deserve.

I think I can speak for birdie when I say, if he didn't like the car so much, he wouldn't be so focused on pushing for a proper fix.

Its just a shame to have such a sweet car with almost immediate top problems. I believe that pretty much all of us who have problems with the tops, are just wanting to get a proper fix, not change cars.

And Nutbutt, I'm following you very closely (no innuendo intended ). If your fix stays good, I will probably head up there to have my top replaced when the time comes.

No poop storm. After being calm and dealing with problems on this since day 2 of ownership I am finally getting a little upset. I love my car just not Chevrolet anymore. My 96 Lumina's motor went at 80k. My 80 Malibu's went at 73k. I should of learned but after having my first and second car be a 68 Rs/Z28 and a 69 SS vert I finally have the means for a brand new one at 42. Just not happy with the quality so far. Hope I get a do over in the spring with a new one. If not, I'll get another classic that me and my 14 year old son can work on.

Now I REALLY feel bad about saying anything at all. You have the right to say harsh things.
I hope you will accept my sincere apology.

Best Regards.

It's all good Doc. It just kind of irks me that my 2008 Toyota Yaris that I bought for 12,5 has not been in the shop once. Not 1 issue. But my 40k muscle car gets a tear in the passenger seat the second time someone sits in it. First was my 85 pound daughter then the next day my wife. All my problems are documented here and on the Facebook site. I'm not only mad about my car, also everyone else that has a 11/12 vert. It is my personal mission to get this fixed right, not just with tape and the more people I can get on board the stronger our case is. My personal Occupy Mission has started!
