Have almost always had one of each

The 2011 SS for fun and excitement, and the modestly tricked out GMC Envoy to get me to Sierra fly fishing spots, NorCal Duck hunting, and ski trips.

I knew i wanted the Camaro more than any other car and was financially able to but i also realized that i didnt want to drive it in the winter especially with summer tires. So i made sure i got a winter car and that was a 97 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 that is pretty awesome when it snows.

I usually sweated bullets when i had to drive in really bad snowy roads in my 95 Camaro and made sure that i always had momentum to get up a hill. With the jeep i dont have to worry about shoveling the drive and pretty much i dont need to worry about the roads in winter except for the obvious like ice, deer, people who dont know how to drive in snow, etc...

A jeep could have been a great purchase but like you said you probably should have gotten a used jeep and kept the Camaro.

Wrangler's aren't for everyone and going from a *sports car* to a Jeep Wrangler......if it was the Grand Cherokee I think would have been a better fit.

1)JK's leak...they've been leaking since the new redesigned Wrangler deputed in 2007.They can't seem to fix it or do they want to.

2)Gremlins in the computer will be relentless.Causing your Jeep to go into limp mode or just cut off on you all together.

3)Those plastic bumpers and plastic fenders will fade and fade hideously if not garage or waxed.

4)Rust-look under the Jeep and check your muffler in a few weeks/months.Rust magnets!

5)Rides like a Jeep....not a car

I have an 06 last model TJ before the redesign,no issues and solid engine.
But,I bought mine 5 years ago for the winter in New York City.

Go to jeepforum.com
They will help if any issues arrive, apparently some of Chryslers mechanics are useless.
Cialis in the oil filler will fix the limp mode.

Of course I'm aware that they're opposites -- that's why I thought I'd try to be adventurous and try something new. Had Chrysler corporate not been a total prick during my first customer service issue, I might be a little more positive -- now I'm just a Chrysler hater

Yeah, I'll have fun in the Jeep. There will be new things I can do and it'll be nice this winter. And you're right, I'll just have to realize it's a lesson learned....the hard way. I'll be back in another Camaro before you know it. Are they still looking to redesign on the alpha body in a few years?

That's a great looking Jeep Brandenburg, and you picked the right colour Did you get the 6 speed or the new 5 speed auto?

Here's a better pick of my '09 Rubi........285/70/17 KM2's, Mamba MR1 wheels, TeraFlex Leveling Kit, WildBoar Nerf Bars, Mopar front bumper and E-Disco skid, IPF H4 headlight conversion...........

Wow bro i really feel your pain. How could u let yourself make a insane move like that? You were suppose to swoop up a used jeep for a few grand like u stated. Giving away the 5 should have been highly forbidden. Well there is no use crying over killed cattle and I'm sure next time around you'll think twice about making the wrong move.

In the mean time you can put it up for sale private party. I wish you the best of luck because i know how it feel to regret a car sale/swap.

I got the 6 speed since I love the feel and control of a manual.

On accident, I ordered with the Black/Dark Saddle interior which means it's half tan on the inside....and it looks like crap. Based on the "build your own jeep" on the website, choosing Dark Saddle vs Black only changed some of the threads in the seat. When I ordered the Jeep, they found a match out of state but it had the Dark Saddle. Based on the misinformation on the website, I accepted it.

I called Chrysler to complain that their website had bad/misleading information and they were really rude to me -- but they changed their website within hours. Now, when you using the "build a jeep" app on their site, you see that getting the Black/Dark Saddle interior changes half the plastics and the seat.

The story is a little longer and more complicated than this, but I really learned my lesson. I will never, ever buy an automobile unless I have the chance to see/tough/smell in person. I won't trust the company to provide accurate information, diagrams, or descriptions. If a car company in the future wants my business, they'll build and order before I sign my name. If they don't want my business, I'll just go elsewhere.

I REALLY hate brown...and now I'm stuck with a half brown interior. I learned so many hard lessons during this purchase

I know exactly how you feel. I at one point owned a 2011 Rally Yellow LS. Absolutely loved it, had to give it up for not so personal reasons. Literally broke my heart. I actually had a 2008 Wrangler, loved it but my wife said if you want a camaro, get rid of the Jeep. Not a difficult decision. Anyway, we eventually needed a second car, ended up with a 2005 yukon denali, nice truck, but not my Camaro. So I was miserable, but there is a good ending to this story. I ended up trading it in for a used 2010 CGM, has everything I wanted, minus the V8. Good not be happier. So I do know how you feel and I hope that you will be able to get back into your Camaro again.

For years I traded between Jeeps for 2 years, Camaro for 2 years, back and forth. I found it's better to own both

Funny thread, didn't know how many other jeepers liked camaro's out there.

I'm on the fence as to which transmission to go with in the 2012. I've gone back and forth over the years.......'88 YJ 3 speed auto, '95 YJ 5 speed manual, '06 TJ Rubi 4 speed auto, '09 JK Rubi 6 speed manual.

I'm always worried that I'm going to have a brain fart with the M6 when I'm crossing water or playing in the mud and push in the clutch at the wrong time, so I may just go back to the A5 this time around.........my '06 was an absolute blast to drive on the trails, just point and go

As for the dark saddle interior, I know what you mean.......I hate the look too which is why I'm planning on ordering the black Katskin leather for mine.

I know you already had a bad experience with your dealership/sales rep, but maybe you could talk to them about working you a deal on a black leather Katskin interior and then sell your dark saddle ?

I could never own a Jeep or off-road anything. I'm freaking out over dirt on the Camaro and feel the "need" to hurry up and wash it off. I couldn't even begin to think about purposely taking a new car and ramming it through the mud. Did that when I was a kid. Those days are over for me.

Brandenburg, at least you can return from the "dark side" again...someday. Lucky you, some people never realize their "mistakes".

I've been working on my credit for several years and the Camaro purchase two years ago was proof to myself that I was finally making positive changes. The Camaro was the first time my credit allowed me to purchase a new car. Self-employed people sometimes find it difficult to get loans because of how our finances look on paper. Just a few years ago, I settled for a 23% interest loan on a used Camaro *just* so I could begin getting positive marks on my credit. I hated getting such a high interest loan, but that allowed me to end up with a 1.9% interest loan on my most recent purchase.
I edited out some of the quote -

I'm 'self-employed' as well - 1099 every year - kills me. Need an accountant with a crooked pencil just to get by April 15th without a half gallon of cheap liquor and some razor blades.

My loan on the Corvette wasn't pretty either - mistake was made in telling them my current monthly payment on the trade-in. I haven't done that since. Now, I tell them what payment I expect to be paying after calculating on my own the estimated APR and Price I'd be willing to pay for the new vehicle.

With the Vette, I told them "I'm paying 400/mo" and they said "okay - we can do that, maybe" - came back with $439/mo - as predicted. I told them hell no and don't come back to me if you can't beat $400/mo. They came back with $399.50/mo. SO - what they did was get my loan approved at a lower rate, then padded the rate (giving them a higher commission when they sell the loan). They pumped it to 9.9%. Wanting the Vette but also wanting OUT of the minivan before the resale plummeted even more (paid $26k, worth $13 at trade after 3 years and I bought it 1 year old). - I agreed.

Sounds like you may have had that bad loan you got yourself into on the top of your mind - even more so than your desire or the Jeep. (lol - Just Emptied Every Pocket) (better than Cracked Head Every Valve Rattles Oil Leaks Every Time). That 10% loan hit me in the face every time I got into the Vette. The RAM shaved a few points off that and the Camaro shaved a few more points off that. SO - I'm around 5% now and I have eh- credit. Great payment histories and always more than minimum, even on car loan, house loan, etc. BUT - AT&T kicked me in the nuts when I switched to Verizon and kept my phone numbers (x3). They charged me $80 per number and I won't pay it. That's on my record as a collection now. Bastards.

Pay more than the minimum on the Jeep - drive it as little as you have to - work up a down of $1500-$2000 and buy in Feb (when nobody buys). You'll get out of that Jeep, back into another Camaro and have a low interest rate as well.

best of luck to you brother.

Great advice! Thanks!
It was student loans several years ago that hurt me....and they were recorded incorrectly. While I did allow one to go to collections, they somehow broke the loan up into three loans and the one problem got reported three times. So it looks like I had bad loans rather than one. I was able to correct this with two of the credit bureaus, but Trans-Union refuses to make the correction (even though the original company isn't even in business to substantiate the original problem). Needless to say, that student loan has been long since paid off, but it's still out there haunting me. That, combined with self-employment, makes credit challenging (but not impossible). I was fortunate and found a good local credit union which whom I've built a strong relationship. It's much easier for me now as long as I keep working through them. I get good rates with them now so it's not a problem.

I like you method of negotiating price too...I'll have to chew on that a bit and use it the next time around.
