Question all Missouri Camro owners about personal property taxes
Hi,
Just got mine the other day as I'm sure most of you have. I need to know if they made a mistake on mine or if its the same across the board. My assesed value is way higher than last year and in turn has raised my taxes due about $100 more than last year. If you have a SS, can you tell me if your's was lower or higher than last year. If lower, then I have an argument to make.

It has to be. I plan to fight it. I have never seen a car value go up in my entire life. Nor has anyone I've asked. I could see it staying same. I also checked on the one that someone owns a few blocks away. It's a v6 and he owes the exact same as me. How's that even possible? I think they lumped all of the models into one assessment. That seems like a mistake to me. How can a v6 (1lt) and a v8 2ss assess at the same amount.
Anyone know who to go to, to argue it? Just curious, was yours $581? If so, what model do you have?

Meanwhile in Kansas... Mine, for a 2LT, was just a shade under 700. Taxes here are ridiculous.

My Z06 gets valued the same as a base C6. They value any model as just the base model, so even somebody with a ZR1 pays the same taxes as somebody with a base model Corvette. Just how it goes... My Trailblazer SS is the same way... it's just logged as a plain Trailblazer.

St. Louis County Personal Property Taxes...valuation on almost EVERY vehicle has gone up in addition to the rate increase! I work for a trucking company and most all their equipment's valuation increased over last year! Funny, St. Louis County's Dept of revenue just happens to be closed until 12/5/11! Someone needs to contact one of the news channels to investigate this issue and have them ask St. Louis County, how the HELL any personal property valuation can increase from one year to the next! Our Real Estate hasn't even appreciated!!
It's a CROCK of BS 4 Sure!

I guess the question I really have is how do they come up the fair market value numbers. Even if the used the base models for all models, mine is listed at $6,700 (last year was $5,700) Of course this is way off for a used LS, but there must be some kind of math to their madness. I would be willing to make a trip to clayton about this, but I would like to understand the numbers first?

Trust me, they make you pay it somewhere else. IL doesn't have it either, but for starters, their gas is usually .20 - .30 higher than MO. I onlt pay about $50 for yearly tags. States without personal property taxes usually pay about $200 (give or take $50). It all adds up in the end, especially the gas increase.
