So the cover on the super charger is red...regardless of the body color?

The only ZL1 that I have seen in person was the red one in Chicago on Saturday.

I just assumed (we all know that rest of that) that the cover color would match the body color. I was able to order a body colored intake cover with my 2010 SS.

I really didn't plan on doing any mods on my ZL1, but a red cover just won't make it.

Yeah, it's only red regardless of what color you order, as far as I can tell. Red is like the mandatory, secondary color of the ZL1. It's the only color available for the engine cover, ZL1 logo, and interior stitching.

Doesn't bother me though because I like it

I can tell you that it was difficult to not say that red is the color after seeing the one at the show on Saturday. It looked awesome! As a matter of fact, I left saying that I was going to change my order...but, I guess I am sticking with my first choice. I know what your saying about red as the "mandatroy". The stitching is another issue.

Anyway, I still have a little time to make my final decision.

Was it just me or did Ford do a way better job displaying their platform GT500 at the LA Auto Show. Dont get me wrong I love the new ZL1 but I was expecting a bit more. Ford let you sit in the GT500, pop the hood, and even did a demonstration of it on the dyno machine(left before it started). I even talked to a vehicle representive that told me about some of the new features. The ZL1 convertible was sitting on a platform spinning . I was unable to sit in it, look at or feel the interior up close or pop the hood. When I looked for a representitive to talk to nobody was around. I spent most of my time looking at the Hot Wheels Camaro (my son really liked that one). For a ZL1 fan I was unimpressed. At leased I got to see the Ashen Gray paint up close. Thank God I did. I have now officially switched back to Black.

The dyno demo was on a 2012 550hp GT500. They had a pro driver do a 0-135 run on the dyno with a couple of kids in the car. It was never pushed hard and no numbers were given.

The 2013 GT500 you could get in looked just like the rest of the cars there. I think the best looking one of the bunch was the Orange Boss. But I'm a little partial to Orange for some reason.

I wish that GM would have had a different color ZL1 at the show. The exposed CF hood didn't look that good on the Ashen Grey. I would have loved to see IOM or CRM with the exposed CF and seen what the stripes looked like with the exposed CF.

Now, the new transformers edition with the high wing.....OMFG!!!! That looked sick! The stripes are bad azz!

Your probably right as I left before the dyno started. I totally agree about the orange boss. I'm not even a Ford fan but wow, it gives you something to think about. o.k I'm done thinking. ZL1 all the way baby.

It looks OK, but it doesn't make the ZL1 "POP", it seems to tone down the looks too much for me. It may have been the show, but the ZL1 wasn't the most attractive car in the GM booth.

Uh-Oh! Thats 2 people in this thread that did not think the Ashen Gray looked good or that did not like the way the exposed cf hood blended. This is the color I chose and now I am second guessing myself. Can others that saw the Ashen Gray comment? I'm really interested in why Slowyouroll is switching to black.

It was to plain for my liking. Nothing about the color stuck out. The carbon hood blended into the Ashen Gray paint and really didnt show that much contrast. For anyone thinking of purchasing this wonderful car in Ashen Gray I would suggest that you see it in person first. To each its own.
