I have a question to ask... I need your opinions...

Would you give up your maggie and headers in exchange for twin turbo and more power?

discuss...

Being I am into diesels, I like the sound of turbos, and the "free" power (using the exhaust power not engine power) makes sense. But the $$$$, is a whole different issue.

Here is my dilemma... I LOVE the look of my maggie and the sound of the headers (I have cutouts too), but I want more power. I'm at 560 rwhp right now.

I am thinking of putting a 427 LSX engine (fully forged) in the car with a 4L80E tranny and 9" kit.

The options then are to keep the maggie and be limited to about 750 to 800 rwhp, or go TT and have the potential to go over 1000 rwhp. I can dial the boost back on TT for street driving. The drawback of TT is that I don't get to keep my headers (sound) or my pretty maggie.

Check out the latest GM High-Tech magazine (Vol-18, #1/ Jan 2010)...nice article about twin turbos that Redline is doing....for the hassle and the fact that its putting out 798 rwhp (about what you can do with a maggie)..it doesnt seem worth the cost. I checked out STS twin turbos, Redline and MDS...the MDS is about the only set up I liked that made near 1000hp or better.
There are others who make more power I know but the level of detail and install quality seems deficient. JMHO.....

Nitrous fed into a magna charger on a street car would scare the hell outta me.....I would no doubt napalm the engine!!!!
A good turbo set up will be best on max power...plus with the latest tech on them there is virtually no lag...I opted out of turbos because I dont want to deal with the heat factor and the additional oiling hassles....also I love the exhaust "THUMP" more than the "PHST PHST" of the turbos.
To each his (or her) own however.

I totally agree with you. I love the sound of the thump rather than the whiny turbos
