You can bet your bottom dollar HP's will increase in the '13 model. I don't see them making the 650hp+ leap, but I can see a 612hp rating or somewhere around there to be quite honest.

I doubt it is even necessary, the Mustang may have more horsepower, but lacks the ability to effectively get it all to the ground. That is where the Camaro will shine.

Next year will always have a better car. If not, then GM is doing something wrong.

Why not just go buy a SSC Aero if you're worried about a car next year having more power than the one you're getting? Why do you want that bump in hp? Bragging rights? You're buying a 580hp STREET CAR for Pete's sake!!! If you're not happy with it, modify it or buy something faster to begin with. Like someone else said, progress is the name of the game. If you wait for something better to come along, you'll be waiting forever. And the year you buy your flying car, GM will announce a teleporter, so you'll be SOL again.

Doing it the next year is bad enough, but doing it right after a shortened model year of 6 months would be like a swift kick to the balls.

Yep, but it's going to happen. It's a part of life. I wouldn't blame GM for it though.

You really think they'll increase the power for the 2013 model year due to the GT500 announcement? I guess there's a possibility, but I just don't see them reacting that quickly.

I don't believe that they are going to do that the will leave it the way it is. F#%d has come out with the 5.slow and increased HP and the V8 Camaro still has the same amout of power for three years in a row. I am getting mine now. With 580 HP and a James Bond plate that rotates, the red and blues will never even know what just passed them. LOL. Also has anyone heard that the 1/4 mile times were done on a rolling start?

Yes they were, in addition to the 0-60 time. I believe they are being a bit conservative with these times though.

I honestly don't think they will touch the horsepower or even need to mess with it. If they do, it will be something like 5 or 10 hp kind of like they did with the V6 in 2010-2011. I expect some better options, different gears, different hood, more lights, maybe a few less pounds here and there, some tweaks to the magnetic ride, and some electronic gadgets. But overall, the car will be better than the previous year.

Now that I can see and is something I'd be perfectly ok with as a 2012 owner. I definitely don't want progress to stop, but making drastic changes so soon after the introduction of a new model is sure to PO people.

It's definitely happened before and I'm sure it'll happen again. Look at the 2001 Z06 owners or the 2010 Mustang GT owners, I'd personally be more than a little upset and disappointed if I were in their shoes.

With the ZR1 going to close to 700hp FOR 2013 I dont think Chevrolet will feel the need to bump up the ZL1 right away. I didnt let the cat out of the bag did I?!

People being upset says more about their expectations than GM's responsibilities. Attachment to an expected outcome is the cause of all present and future complaining, not GM's failure to provide X.
