If DI allows +100hp and +1-2mpg that is great. If you expect ot want to see higher mpg gains then the hp would have to stay the same. DI offers both.

Delayed, not canceled- DI is the future of gas IC engines and will happen sooner or later.

It will come in a variety of configurations, it is replacing the LS family of engines. So expect something in the high 4.X range, low 5.X range, high 5.x range, and possibly larger than that too. If there are any extreme performance cars (can't ignore CAFE ... ) they will likely have some sort of forced induction, be it turbo or supercharger.

not really the future actually. Most manufacturers have DI engines out already.

So...its cool how this post originated 3 years ago and the camaro is out, but with a DI V6. I understand that the recession has slowed the auto industry but I want to see an auto company grow a pair and step up the use and research of new technology. The volt is cool and i like the research on electric vehicles and hybrids but DI makes power and fuel mileage...sounds like a winner to me. Anyway, there's my rant. Does anyone have any news on a set date for the release of the DI V8? Also, does DI make the intake manifold obsolete? Does that mean every vehicle could be supercharged as a standard? Gotta fill the open space somehow, it only makes sense to fill it with a supercharger haha.
