Some people will find it important they may have been encouraged or influenced by lies to purchase a product marketed as a completely different vehicle when in reality it may be a parts bin upgrade with some different badging on it.

As for the rest of you calling people posers; I don't see why it's an issue to replace parts on a vehicle. If someone wants to replace their front bumper with a ZL1 bumper power to them. Secondly, that bumper is not exclusive to the ZL1 and I've seen it on other vehicles (ie - ADM car). Personally, I don't like the looks of the ZL1 bumper, hood or diffuser, but to each their own.

Hmmm...What are the most easily identifiable parts on a ZL1 that say ....Hey im a ZL1?................ Bumper and hood perhaps?

So by putting those on a non ZL1, What are you saying?
I love the hood and bumper so much, that it doesnt matter people might confuse it for a ZL1,because badging says SS/RS/LT?
In the end, people are correct its my car and i'll do what I want to it.IMHO it wouldnt be worth the harrassement it would bring on! Imagine showing up at a dragstrip (instant ridicule). just not worth it!

Because some people just don't have anything supportive to say about anyone else's car or goals...

x2. This guy really loves the Camaro. I don't think I could ever feel the way he does about any car, ever. It's just a car. It's a inanimate object that, at the end of the day, takes you from point A to point B. I understand we all get satisfaction from driving what we love, but man....it's just a car.

As long as you are NOT sporting a badge saying you are a ZL1 then it's cool with me. It's one thing to want a look, but it's quite another to say you are something you are not.

My two cents..
a. I do not consider it a lie at all
b. I called "bull" when Al said it (It "not fitting" was a natural thing to say at the time)
c. I did figure there might be some slight modification/DIY required
d. His comment was likely predicated by the fact that it requires much more than just the bumper
e. Who really cares...someone would have come up with a "conversion/adapter" even if it didn't fit up exactly

If people don't like threads, they don't have to go and or participate in them. I definately acknowledge he's been a bit all over the place, but I think I can appreciate where he's coming from. I'm not putting words in anyone's mouths or speaking for them, but he's got a love that I think I can share and even though I don't post a lot of my thoughts, I'm not going to put someone else down, especially for a CAMARO on a CAMARO WEBSITE. It's fine not to agree, but I'm sure anyone here can poke fun or deminish a love or enthusiasm someone else has for something they don't. This happens to be something he's probably very passionate about and it's in a Section it should be in in a Community where it should be appreciated to some degree.

We should all have a great appreciation for CAMARO in this Community. That's what this Community is for and if you don't share those sentiments - you don't belong.

'68' - I think I feel where you're coming from. Don't lose faith

Dude, I'm sorry, but I disagree. I have a very strong appreciation for the Camaro, hence the reason I am here. I just don't let it run my life, or let it be what makes my day good or bad. At the end of the day, it's just a car. I love my car, but if it was to get stolen, or wrecked, burned or whatever, it's just a piece of property that can be replaced. The same way I don't get his infatuation with a car, I don't get when people say "My woman is never driving my car", or "nobody except for me drives my car". It's a car. Just like I don't mind when people use my microwave, I wouldn't care if people I trust drove my car.

Well, it's not "just a car" for many people here. It's okay if it is, but it's not to others. People's passion about this car varies from lukewarm to off the charts and no one is wrong for any level they are at.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with it, to a degree. If it begins to dictate your life decisions, and if you take stuff personally when someone says something about it, I think that's a bit too much. To each their own. But you can't tell people they don't belong here because they're not obsessed with a car. If that was the case, I wouldn't belong on the Mustang forums either. Either way, happy motoring
