This is from the dealer reference guide. If you tow the car your rolling the tires on the road surface so it's the same as driving these tires.
I was wrong about the storage temp it should be 20 deg or colder. Please note:
■■ZL1 Camaro summer-only tires tend to wear faster and are more
susceptible to damage from road hazards or curb impact than
standard profile tires. This type of damage is not covered by the
GM New Vehicle Limited Warranty. You may want to get different
tires if you expect to drive in winter conditions
■■It is not recommended to use the high-performance summer
tires when temperatures drop to approximately 40 degrees F (5
degrees C) or below
■■It is recommended these tires be stored indoors at temperatures
above 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) when not in use
■■The ZL1 tires should not be rotated. They are corner specific
by design.
■■These tires are unique in their wear patterns. The outside
shoulder may appear worn as compared to other tires. Always
inspect at the wear bar

1. You cannot tow cars like the Camaro in the way that you are thinking.

2. TOW ON A TRAILER OR TRUCK WITH A FLAT BED......

I think the point is that the tires aren't even supposed to be exposed to these temperatures (below 20F), not that they can't be driven in them. I think it is a valid concern.

What is going to happen if these tires are exposed to temps below 20? Is it really going to degrade the tires, I have a hard time believing that.

I'm going to store mine in an unheated garage during the winter, so temps will definitely dip below 20.

The rubber on the tire will harden. What will happen then is they will be 100 times more susceptible to cracking. Chances are you will wear them out before that happens but I personally would not go out the next summer after storage and drive 180mph.

It's a valid concern yeah, but what the hell happened to people using some freaking common sense.

1. You won't get traction
2. The tyres will breakdown faster.

Summer tyres mean use only when weather permits, so not on snowy or icy roads

everyone realizes these tires are like $600 each right? i called Goodyear. these tires are ultra sensitive. they estimate maybe a 25k mile wear. They also said these types of tires most likely wont have any wear guarantees.

Am I really going to have to get a set of storage wheels and tires?

I put a thermometer in my garage and I plan on watching it when the temps dip down.. My garage is attached so it is typically 20-30 degrees higher than ambient. I might be ok unless it gets to 20 below. If not I'll weigh my options. I guess if you drive enough just get a new set every spring and don't worry about the temps.

There is a tiny decal under the hood that says "These are HOT cars that need warmth and should be driven daily. Caution, drive only in FLORIDA!"

Looks like you guys are going to have to drop ship your cars to members that live in Florida so we can keep them from freezing to death. Sorry, but just ship me your car and I will take good care of it for you.
