NO!!!!!

It's beyond constrained. It's not even an option right now. It's in the same place as white.

It used to be a LPO (dealer installed) option. They are switching it to being RPO (factory installed) only. It's taking them some time to get the details of installation, etc worked up at the factory. Once they get the process in place and parts there, it should be available again.

Here is a thread about #1 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18783

#2. Sort of. If the hurst shifter causes a problem with your transmission linkage, it won't cover it. But if your AC goes out, you bet they have to cover it. This is the same thing that applies to ALL aftermarket mods with ANY car company. If you break it, they don't cover it. But if the issue is unrelated to your mod, then they have to cover it. If there's a gray area, good luck. But with something like a STS, I don't see how they could blame much on it. It's a basic component that really doesn't change much (at least how it relates to the other components).

No it isn't bullSh...

UCF is correct. Rumor is it's a little more difficult to install than originally thought. So GM decided to only install it at the factory and not the dealers.

As far as your questions go. It probably won't be more expensive aftermarket. And you will only void your warranty on the transmisison and only if they can prove that you installed the shifter incorrectly therefore damaging the tranny... Other than that you are good to go.
