I wouldnt let the 1/4 and 0-60 times be the deciding factor between the Mustang and Camaro V6. True the Mustang is about .4 seconds faster on avg through the 1/4, but its also a N/A V6 and it will hit the same brick wall as the camaro does when you finish getting full bolt ons.

Not politically correct, so ladies, please don't be offended...
A wise old man once told me: "Pu$$y; it's all good...Some is just better." I heard that phrase about 40 years ago, and still smile when thinking about it. I can see how it relates to many things, throughout life. To the OP - you'll have a good time with any of the new North American muscle cars, but probably would with lots of other cars too. My first car was a Ford, and I had a great time with it ('69 Cortina GT), as well as other Fords I've owned over the years. I've also enjoyed several GM products. I believe the trend is presently going toward lighter and smaller cars, and fuel prices probably won't be going down much (most likely, UP) If I planned on using the rear seats more than just on rare occasion, a Challenger would be my choice. It's also got a big trunk. I've long had an appreciation of overhead cam multi valve engines, so I still prefer the Ford in that area. The engine just seems more "modern". Do your homework and make an informed decision... It's all good.

Either way for me Id go on things other than 1/4 performance just because performance wise they are really close, relatively. I think we will get better FI options...once they come out lol |

"Help me, I might buy a Mustang"
I got an M9, M4 Carbine and a Big combat knife... which one do you want to use? I can tell you the M4 to the head will be less painful to you.

I think the Mustang is over rated. Every 10 cars I see on the road, 3-4 of them are Mustangs. I find no attraction on that plain Ford car. Personally i don't like any Ford cars... but that is just my personal opinion.

One other thing to keep in mind with the LS with the steelies is that the car is limited to 118 MPH. If you don't get the Pirellis/HP tires the factory speed limits the car. Meaning you have to get a tune to get rid of this (Warranty breaker if you get caught). I drove both and if you don't care the Mustang is the better buy for sure. However I am a Chevy guy and so is my whole family so Camaro for me... Good luck with your decision. Both are good cars (Each have good and bad points) The fun part is looking...

Just like it was in the late '60s, too.. And another 3-4 out of 10, were VWs. Over-rated? People perceived them to be a good value, so they sold well. Honestly, those '60s VW were better built than any '60s Mustangs or Camaros were. Quality on both domestics have improved since then, but I think they're both still crude cars, as compared to many others currently available. By that thinking, yes, the Mustang is over-rated. You can also say the same for the crudely-built Camaro and Challenger.
You don't buy any of them for build quality or interior refinement; it's more about emotions and attitude, and all 3 are relatively equal. |
