You are so right Tib. Even though GM is breaking even or losing a few buck on the Volts but making about 5 to 7 grand per Camaro. Makes a hell of a lot of sense doesn't it?
Everyone says Camaro's are gas guzzlers but my 06 Caravan gets 17 MPG if I'm lucky. My 400 HP Camaro Convertible gets between 18 and 21 in the city depending on what mood I am in. Hmmmm

At least you have lemon laws....We have no such legislation here.
Also the cars cost about 20-25% more here to begin with.
I am hoping GM finds a permanent fix, although (knock on wood) I have not had the problems that some of the vert owners are facing including yourself.

We can seek remedy via:

thank you for your post
I knew about camvap but although I have never utilized the arbitration system, I would think it would be more about working with the dealer and manufacturer for repairs where possible first. It is not like the lemon law where the vehicle is automatically deemed a "lemon" after a certain amount of time out of service and in the shop.
Also, realistically,my perception is how impartial can the arbitration board be when part of the board is made up of representatives from the manufacturers?

Most reasonable people would rather try to work with the dealer and manufacturer to repair their vehicle first but our system would seem to be longer in duration to get a resolution.
Camvap is an arbitration hearing(more like a court system) and the onus is on the vehicle owner to prove their case.

I was halfway considering trading in my coupe on a vert. After seeing all these issues with the vert though, I don't think so. GM fix yer shit and I might think about buying a convertible from you.

I would point out that the lemon laws in the United States are State laws, not Federal. Athough I think most State Laws are similar.

There are two separate types of processes in the U.S and most States. A Better Business Board dispute resolution program, which can go to arbitration. This is a kinder gentler process than the lemon laws. I have used this process recently and am very satisfied with the resolution and time it took.

To pursue remedy through the lemon laws is a legal process and it's not guaranteed you will win. If you do win, the car get's titled as a lemon and I don't know what the manufacturer does with the car then. If you lose, you can stil sue the manufacturer.

with the camvap arbitration here in Canada
there are 2 choices
1) you can sue the manufacture
2) use camvap arbitration-arbitration panel decision is final
if you lose your arbitration hearing from what I have read you also lose your right to sue.

you can do either choice 1 or choice 2 but not both.
