You're giving up tread life for road-gripping stickiness with tires like this. I knew this when I upgraded to the 20" P-Zeros and would do it again!

30K+ on summer tires is fantastic. If you want longer wear go to an all season , but dry performance will fall off.

30k out of those tires is awesome. I have 6k on mine and the rears are about half shot. Soft tires = great handling and Crappy tread life. Yeah replacement cost are high.

I have a V6 at about 18K and my tires are at about 5/32 of tread left. I havent seen replacements of any kind under 250 a tire either. Usually 300.

PZero All Weather (V6) I'm at 25k and they have a lot left. Drive hard it costs you more in gas and wear and tear. Just the way it is.

All-seasons are sort of dumb. You really need to get snow tires anyways in order to be able to confidently navigate in the cold/snow/ice.

Compared to performance tires of 20 years ago like Gatorbacks, these really aren't so expensive. Only advice I can offer is check out tire rack for some online price & brand comps. By the way, your sacrafice is not forgotten, thanks for your service. |

I averaged about 14K a year on my '97 1LE. I consistently got two seasons out of each set of summer tires (Goodyear GSCs and later Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s), and two winters out of each set of snow tires (Blizzak WS60s by the end of the car's life). If a set of these new PZeroes were to last me 30K miles, I would be amazed. Given how much the Scorpions cost, I wouldn't mind getting three winters instead of two, but if that's the price of fun, so be it.
I remember reading an Autoweek tire review many years ago. The article commented that high performance tires were rather unique among consumer items. As best I can remember: "In what other business could you imagine a customer paying a very high price for a product that lasted an almost obscenely short amount of time, and coming back grinning from ear to ear and asking to do it again?" I can relate to that! |
