Drove it for almost 500 miles last Sunday. Mixed roads: highway, secondary road and ALMOST the infamous "Nordschleife", but they don't allow cars with temporary plates anymore :(

When I got home in the evening I was indeed thinking "damn, I'm already back..." (drove from 8.30 AM until 17.30 AM, only stopping for fuel)

yeah Revo1, I actually went into your youtube channel to look for part 2 because I saw that the one you had posted was part 1. Part 2 was even better haha. Really awesome stuff.

Capt and PeeBee thanks for sharing as well. Seems like the thoughts are the same for everyone, it seems like they don't want the trip to end! Pretty awesome indeed.

Here is my story. In the 18 months I had my Camaro, we took 4 long trips (over 200+ Miles). The Four of us. Me, the pretty lady, and the two kids (now, 16 year old boy & 13 year old girl).

I live in Niagara Falls, NY. Two of the trips were to Fort Wayne, IN. That was about 1000 miles round trip. One trip was to Ocean City, MD and other was to New York, NY. The Front seats are GREAT for long trips. Mind you, you still should take regular breaks while traveling long distances. However, the back seats are a bit cramped. My g/f's son is a 5'11" tall and he usually sits behind his mother, she has to move the seat almost all the way forward, leaving her very little leg space. Also, his head hits the headliner by the rear window. Her daughter, however, is only 5' or so. She fit just fine behind my seat w/out me having to move it forward to much.

So, if it's just you and one other, the trip will be pretty good. Put people (Young Adults/Adults) in the back seat, they will not like it and you will have plenty of complaints.

As for gas mileage in a 2SS w/ M6, I was getting between 26-27 MPG doing about 10 over posted speed limit. In some cases, I was doing 85, still getting those great MPG numbers.

With all that said, I have two young adults in my family now, I chose to trade in my Camaro something more roomier in the back seat...a 2011 Traverse. Everyone loves the Traverse, however, instead of complaining about no room in the back seats, no cup holders in the back seats, the kids complain about who controls the tempature in the back....man, I can win...lol.

I commute between Chicago and Ann Arbor at least once a month 250 miles one way. And I've driven the car from Chicago-philly-NYC and back. Best road trip car ever!!! Quiet, smooth, comfortable and good gas mileage. You cannot ask for anything better!

Just make sure nobody is in the back seat.

I was worried about that as well. In the first week I had her, I drove 850 miles in 14 hours with two brief stops. I was tired at the end, of course, but the seat (front) was comfortable for the entire trip. I am prone to back pain when I sit too long, but I was in surprisingly good shape when I arrived.

Good for long trips. Can't comment on the back seats though, in case that ever matters to you.

However, as you should know, the trunk is large, but has a small opening. Plan packing well and remember you can access the trunk through the back seat.

the bmw was a certified pre-owned warrantied vehicle i bought through a dealership. it was actually $30k (vs. $37k for the new camaro), though original MSRP was $54k. i had 13 problems in 15 months with the car, and they were pretty severe problems. the biggest issue is that the dealerships i went to would not fix most of the problems, finding bizarre loopholes to not cover each independent item under the CPO warranty. eventually i gave up.

the camaro ss is much more car for the money, and a 5 year warranty i know i can trust. i will never be a believer that foreign cars are better cars. they are more expensive because they have very expensive parts, which is true. the problem is when those parts break, and with my bmw, they did a lot of breaking.

Great road trip car

The Camaro is a great trip car, this summer I reset the trip meter when I left my driveway, headed west and didn't turn around until it hit 500 miles. I made it home that afternoon 16 hr. and 45 min. later with 1030 miles showing on the meter. I had to stop and get groceries on the way home so that added alittle time. Got home took a short nap and was ready to go again.

we have taken numerous trips in my camaro... last year we went left vabeach, headed south to Tail of the Dragon, then down to Atlanta for a spin on Atlanta Motor Speedway, then hightailed it over to spend a day at the Talladega Motor sport track, then back up via Charlotte. This year we took three trips... drove to P'cola, made the BBOMG meet in Oshawa, then down to Savanna to hang out at Roebling raceway! Nice comfy ride all the way!!

I just drove from Naples, Fl to Atlantic City, NJ area. I left at 1:45am last Sat morning and pulled into my driveway at 9:30pm that night, 1,278 miles. Only had to stop for gas 4 times. (really only would have needed 3, but I had my 3 dachshund's in the car with me and they needed the break LOL). Cruise set around 75mph most of the way. It was a VERY Comfortable ride. Good thing because I'll be heading back to Naples on Dec. 27th!
