Transmission Noises

My 2SS Manual, has about 7k miles and from day one, she had a noisy tranny. I went down to the dealer and test drove the same exact car, and guess what, same noises, only not as noticeable. Now, unless I drive with my windows down, all I can hear is tranny sounds. For example, switching from second to first as I am nearly stopped creates a nice mixture of metallic noises. Actually, cruising in any gear seems to come with the sounds of my transmission. I do not onow how to describe these sounds, except that they annoy me. Does anyone else just have a loud tranny?

They do that. I keep my windows up or turn on the radio.

I have the 2013 V6, RS package.......i get a ZINGING noise when coming to a stop, or transferring from drive to park/drive to reverse, etc...........is this the noise you are hearing? The dealerships here say it is normal, but I don't know any chevy owners hearing this same noise. Last time I had it in they said it was the exhaust system....said they tightened it up. Made no difference.......makes me crazy!!

The loud tranny is the first thing I noticed, literally as I drove the car off the lot. Some say their tranny is loud, other don't. Bottom line, there will be some normal variation in each tranny and, of course, in what each owner notices or tolerates. So, you'll get lots of "Yep, they are all loud" and lots of "Mine is quiet." But, it will be hard to tell from the forum whether your noises are "normal." Probably more realistic to find out if they are "common."

Is it a low RPM "growling" that kind of sounds like rotating chain sprockets? Drown out by 2500-3000 RPMs and worse after the tranny warms up?
