If you're willing to do about 3 hours of driving, Faulkner Chevy in Lancaster, PA still has allocation. Last I heard there were 2 left (out of 6).

Hi RPO,
I originally pre-ordered from Robert Chevorlet. My order is still pending. I was approved with credit and all. As far as waiting I do understand that but I was told since I am getting a LT2 and others aren't I may have a chance to get the car before the summer. As I explained if it is a 8 - 9 month wait it is news to me as I wasn't told this the first time. If I was told the truth at first I would of just passed on it because I need a car before the summer as I am sharing a car right now which I don't want to do. I am not complaining because of the wait. I just want to pay for a vehicle and get it in a timely fashion. If I had more then one car it wouldn't be an issue. Once you usually get into the dealer they tell you lots of things. The first thing they say is dont believe any forums including camaro5 as they don't have any true information. I think these dealerships are not informed, well all the ones I encountered so far. I understand orders are a head of me too, but dealers that I have been too easily underestimate the fact and say it doesn't matter about sequential ordering. So I am inquiring about other folks experiences so that perhaps I can get some real truth. |

If you are in that situation I can tell you there is no way to know for sure. Being that you ordered a V6 you are likely to get it quicker than if you order a V8, so you MAY have it by the summer. But NOONE can tell you for sure, and any dealer that does is probably lying.
You will need to decide if the wait is worth it or not.

There is not one dealer who knows exactly how many and when they are getting these. That should have been explained when you ordered it. In fact, everyone here who claims to be an expert should know this as well.

I too have had an ordering issue. I live on Long Island as well and recently went to my local Chevy dealer to get an order priced out for the 2SS version of the camaro. However i felt really uncomfortable when pricing it out at the dealer becuase the dealer told me, even before we begun talking, that the cars price was non-negotiable, and that on top of that there was a $5000 dollar on top add on to whatever the the price of the car would be after adding everything up. $5000 on top !!!!!????? In other words if the car after everything is added up is 38,000 the dealer is adding an extra $5000 on top of that, 43,000 total, for what only i can see as being the privallge to order the car from the dealer. WTF is up with that, first off in all my years of buying cars i've never heard of that being done and second off with the economy in the sate that it is you would think that you would have at least a little pull here in negotiating the price down, but not only do you not get to negotiate it down their adding money you have to pay on top of that. So i guess what i'm asking is has anyone else found this to be happening to them as well, is this sorta thing standard? or am i just getting royally screwed by this dealership. And if this sorta thing is standard how long do you think you have to wait untill they stop asking for $5000 on top.

At this late stage in the ordering process, its anyones guess when your order will be pulled for production whether its a 6 or 8. At best, it will be late fall.
For the most part, most of the dealers on LI are not going to cut you any deals with the possible exception of those that were mentioned as being honest on this thread. Thats why I ordered out of state with a dealer who is a family friend. I went to Atlantic Chevy in Bayshore a week ago to see if they had any brochures (they did not) and asked a sales person out of curiosity about ordering a Camaro - said "you can probably order one at the end of the year"! Huh ? ! ? Talk about clue-less! |

As soon as you said you are from LI and were having this issue, I knew it was Robert Chevrolet. They shouldn't need to run credit checks now. I cancelled my order from them and switched to Huntington Chevrolet, they didn't need to do a credit check. Robert Chevrolet gave me hell. Never returned my calls, kept trying to do credit checks, etc. |
