try connecting your ipod or a portable cd player to the amp and see if you have sound that way. This will tell you if it is a amp issue, or source issue.

the speaker wire from the amp is not disconnected is it?
Disconnect the amp from the sub, then connect a 9 volt battery to the sub. If the sub is working you will see it move and thump a little bit when you connect the 9 volt. Maybe the speaker wire fell off from inside the enclosure.

There are so many variables in this case. Check your ground. That's where I would start. Too often, care is not given to the ground installation and it is as important as the power line. I wish you were closer because it's hard to help this way

If the amp comes on it's not a bad ground to the amp. Do the 9 volt battery like advised, or grab a multimeter and check the sub that way. Depending on the sub, you're probably looking for about 4 ohm. If it's O.L, it might be the wires inside the box, or your sub is fried. If it reads 0 ohm, your sub is definitely fried. Not very many times I've seen a shorted sub though...

The LOC is rarely grounded in my experiences. If the amp has ground in any way then the amp can turn on. Not all will but many. Some amps will ground just by being mounted to the metal of the car. I've even seen some cheap amps pull ground from the RCA cables. Didn't work very effiecently but turned on, none the less lol. Your ground should be at least the same size as the power and generally no more than 12-18 inches long. Make sure the connection is secure to metal, making sure to scrape away paint and a star washer is a good idea.
