I think GM should release some eye catching "bright colors" to compete with Ford since the 2013 mustang will come in colors like "gotta have it green" and "school bus yellow" I mean those names alone draw one's attention without even seeing the color! The ZL1 deserves some crazy colors IMHO.

@ Mac : I know Scott didn't mention any future colors per se. But he stated "remember colors change from year to year" reading in between the lines that translates to a possible color update for 2013 camaros and since Ford is updating the colors for 2013 mustangs, dont be surprised if GM follows suit to keep buyers "intrigued"

Agree. Just want to know so that the wait will be worth it.

Any of this i post is opinion and non fact and nothing to back
It as fact. And not to spread fear, but i would think any and all metallic colors
Could be lost. Iom is a good seller but has been here since day one.
I would think people wanting to buy orange since the 2001-20002 sunset orange
Of the pontiac days would start to die down. We have already lost cgm. My speculation is that ashen gray will run through ym 13 and be dropped as well.
Yellow. Good for transformers. Tranformers are being dropped at first of year.
Are sells good enough to keep building yellow camaros. Red, white, and black have stood the test of time. Crystal red? too controversial going into ramp up production. They dropped rjt. Why? I would think crt would not be too far past rjt.
Watch patterns. What are other big three doing with theyre colors?
The companys tend to offer all the same colors pretty much just under different names.

It's time in my opinion to change the color of the Black Suburbans too , we by now all know what they are for ,just by the color .

I would have paid extra for the IBM just like I did for the IOM on my 2010. I will say that I felt GM was finally "Getting it"! Consolidating brands in order to offer better designs to beat the Ford, Honda, & Toyota's of the world. Giving options that create the differentiation in the market place to drive sales. Based on performance and price alone they have! So much so that even say, a outlandish $1500 option for the IBM would still beat the competition. But it looks like in this case, if it truely is a cost/logistical challenge then leadership felt short. Instead of getting creative, and empowering a small team of individuals to provide an effective solution, they simply looked over the fence and followed Honda's/Toyota's packaging policies. Porters five forces trumped their thinking. They stayed in the box. It break's my heart to see that so many GM employees have thought outside the box to bring the world this product only to show that at one yard line they've stumbled. So GM, Chevrolet, I'm over it. I'll search for a workable solution with my dealership. So I'm not holding on to any sour grapes. But I do think there is one point that you guys and gals at GM should take note of.

Since this car has been announced the lines of communication have been anything but crisp. We as customers should be getting the latest and greatest information from our local sales team at our local dealership. Or even in our conversations GM customer care, or the on-line-chats with a GM sales rep. As late as yesterday for me IBM was still showing available when speaking to both my salesman and a on-line chat sales assistant. When I the customer am better informed via a web based forum than GM's own team that says some things. I remember the days when my father, as a Service Manager at Wright Chevrolet, would get bulletin's. Every dealership got them at the same time! They were always better informed than the customer. I wonder how much muda (Japanese for waste) has been created and $$ spent fielding calls, on-line chats and the like dealing with the ambiguity created by a disjointed communication process about the ZL1? Or the tangible cost of damaging a relationship with long time high end customers who have openly expressed frustration within this very forum or on the Corvette Forum's. I don't post often. But don't mistake that for not being informed. It's time for the leaders at GM to take another look at how communication is handled and get it together. Because your customers have it together and we vote with our $$. Order # QBDDDN

Ladies and Gentlemen -

I posted the following in another section of this website - but felt I needed to post it here for those who many not find it elsewhere...........

Here goes:

A couple of thoughts.........

We never like breaking 'bad news' - it's never our intention to upset our faithful. That said, there are times when we must.

Someone said "it's sad to see Imperial Blue Metallic go" - and they're correct.......and it was sad to see many colors go away --- over the past 100 years! I was one that loved Ash Gold in the 1968 model year. I hated that it was dropped for the 1969 model year (whoops...Fbodfather is showing his age once again.....) -- but the sun came up each day in 1969, and 1970, and 1971........and I found myself 'taken' by Fathom Green and Hugger Orange....and Garnet Red in the 1969 model year. I was sad to see Garnet Red go away-- but again, the sun came up in 1970 -- and I found Shadow Gray and Autumn Gold.................

It would be so much easier for the Camaro team (and perhaps you, the enthusiast) if we had a dedicated Camaro Plant..........we'd have more say in just about everything within the plant..........and we wouldn't have to negotiate with other brands that are built in Oshawa......

............the problem is that we HAD a dedicated Camaro (and Firebird) plant - and THAT didn't end well, now did it?

The Reality is that this industry continues to 'fragment' - meaning that there are more and more 'segments' -- and more and more 'nameplates' - so even if the size of the 'pie' (the total number of new cars and trucks sold each year) stayed the same, the slices (each nameplate's penetration into the market) get smaller. (and the pie got much smaller back in late 2007-- and it's not growing appreciably as of yet) Sooooo......because of this, it's vital that many assembly plants take on more than one carline.......because it's the only way we can make money on some cars and trucks. (we can't afford to build cars and trucks that we lose money on anymore.....that's one of the reasons why the Camaro -- and Firebird - went away for a while....)

In the case of Oshawa - we have two final assembly lines - that share a common paint shop. We build Camaros, Regals, Equini (that's plural for Equinox) and Impali. We will now be building the XTS at Oshawa as well.

We must preserve the 'traditional' Sport Car colors such as Victory Red, IOM, and Rally Yellow for the Camaro. The problem is that those colors would not be appropriate for the Equinox and the Regal and the Impala and the XTS. (altho we DO offer VR on Impala - but it's not a big seller...) So......we must work with our other Product Teams to negotiate colors that are acceptable -- and being that there are only so many paint lines available, we sometimes lose a color -- Someone asked 'well - what's it going to be replaced with' -- and I cannot answer that question other than to say that eventually it will be replaced. No - we are not getting a 'brand new' set of colors for 2013. Rather, as always, you will see a color go away and another come back..........

and when that happens we will upset some of you.

No matter what we do.

As I've said before - If I could suddenly wave a magic wand and provide THIRTY colors for the Camaro - we would still have some infuriated that I didn't include "Palomino Ivory" or "Tripoli Turquoise" or "Sequoia Green" or "Scottish Silver."

ha! I fooled you - there was no 'scottish silver' - I snuck that one in to see if you were paying attention......

The latest news to upset some happens to be Imperial Blue Metallic.

I happen to think it's stunning with Silver Stripes......and you are correct that the 'fire' in the paint on a sunny day is something to behold........

.........but the sun will come up in 2013 (God willin' and the creek don't rise - and some of the prophets are wrong about the world ending on 12/12/11.... )
....and perhaps a replacement color will captivate some of you........

I can tell you this with absolute certainty:

EVENTUALLY all of the colors will go away.........one at a time - replaced with something else. And each time one goes away, we will have those who will mourn the loss.

Again - none of us at Team Camaro want to upset you - but unfortunately it's simply in the nature of the Camaro - a nameplate that instills such passion and love.......

No - colors are not what makes a company go Bankrupt...........and no, the Team does not have its collective head up ........OK - I won't continue that response to an earlier post...........

What IS true: The Mighty ZL1 will be worth the wait - even if it's painted scotch plaid.................

Sorry - I grew up in a Chevy Dealership and what you say above is simply not true. Further, I was a District Manager and an Account Manager for many years with hundreds upon hundreds of dealers that I worked with........

....all service bulletins (and every other piece of information) came via the Postal Service for many years-- and they did not get it at the same time.....moreover, there were times when some dealers didn't get it at all - further, it all landed on the dealer's desk and he distributed the stuff. If he had a bank meeting - or was on vacation - or didn't come in that day - it sat....and sat........and sat...................

As to getting the info. out there - we don't want to put 'bad' information out there - and as soon as the decision was made on IBM - we posted it.

That doesn't happen with any other brand that I know of.

Not one other.

As I said above - we hate breaking bad news - but this Team works 24/7/365 to get info out to you - and the proof of that is in the time-stamp.....(I post stuff at the wee hours)

I'm sorry you feel so angry at the team - we don't do this to upset anyone - but we do have a business to run which means we have to make those decisions - good news and bad - and we continue to listen to your voices - believe me, we do!

And as much as we want 100 percent of you 100 percent happy 100 percent of the time.............................................. ....there's that 'human nature' thing that we can't change...............

Thanks Scott for all your help. I was an IBM person but will set my sights to ashen gray which I think will match better to the suede. Doesn't matter the color, I'm still gonna tear up the road courses. I do like white a lot but this will be a track car for me and I personally think I will ruin the color...

That being said, for you IBM folks, what color are you changing to?

@toilets, I am still up in the air. The limited choice in stripes makes it more confusing lol. I wish I could get white with Black.
