Soooo this morning I got a phone call from my salesman. I doubt it was this thread that did it but more likely one of the other 'alternate' forms of contact I put through. We're all good now. I think he knows I expect more communcation from his side and yea, it looks like the GSM put an order ahead of mine that shouldn't have been. He said he was going to talk to his manager when he got back about it and didn't seem happy. I never thought he was out to get me (I would've cancelled long ago if that was the case) but just not very good and getting info to his cusomers. We had a long talk and I think both of us learned from it. Now let's just see what the GSM says about his order that got put ahead of mine that shouldn't have....

no disrespect to the few good dealers, but for the most part none of you know anything about anything that you sell, at best you regurgitate what the dam brochure says. I can read too thanks. How bout some real info! Know your products!!!! sorry i could go on and on this its a very sour subject for me..........

Geez w00t, It really does sound exactly like what happened to me except I ended up talking directly to GSM. He swore he was not bringing in a Stock car but my place had been filled by another car. I just kept up the pressure and kept suggesting what was the right thing to do and got my education here on how the process worked and what days what comes out on and made sure that he knew that I knew more about the process than the next guy on the list. (Thanks Scotty,RPO,NOL300) And thanks to you and your VIN thread I always had news to report to them that they did not even know like when their own cars were made and the VIN #'s (Ed Bozarth Las Vegas). I am sure someone else is now getting the shaft but as long as it was not me so be it. Then out of a total surprise when I got the printout from them yesterday, what do you know my order was placed off the March weekly allocation report (4-4 to 4-8). I had resigned to try to keep the pressure on an make sure it went in the April allocation report sometime between 4-19 and 5-19. Keep up the fight in a civil way and hopefully sooner than later yours will get moved thru. I am really pulling for you now because you are a good guy with good intentions and have such a passion for the Camaro......You deserve it.

Great news Woot, glad to hear that for ya. I am in kinda the same position with my salesman, and it is getting real old quick. Monday is his last chance to get me the information I have asked for. I like the guy but as a salesman he sux! I am glad you posted this thread because it really got me thinking about my situation a lil more clearly. Glad things are rolling for you now , hope I can find the same kind of resolve!

To be honest I haven't read all the replies to the OP.

But why in god's name are you even considering buying a car from a dealer that is treating you like that? Forget the lack of attention from your saleperson, but then add on the disrespect you are getting from the sales manager.

It absolutely confuses me how everyone bitches about dealerships, salespeople, the "lies" and the overall experience yet YOU PEOPLE still continue to reward THEIR behavior buy purchasing a car form them. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?

There are more GM dealerships per capita than any other manufacturer yet you are still going to let these people make a profit off of you while giving you no customer service when there is quite possibly a dealershilp in small driving distance that would cherish the fact they get to sell a GM product at MSRP? Makes perfect sense to me.

If you placed a deposit, simply get it back and go to a delaership/salesperson who appreciates what they are selling and the fact you are doing business with them. If they say you can't get your deposoit back they are lying. They legally can't keep your deposit unless services are provided which they haven't since you haven't received your vehicle. At least that is the way it is in the State of Texas.

I know, there is going to be people who chime in and say "but they are all like that" SHUT UP ALREADY. This is a market economy, you deicide where you buy from and who gets to earn the commission, not the dealer.

/rant off

Yes I am management at a dealership, yes I used to sell cars, yes I make a living by making profit on people...........and YES i still understand that this a PEOPLE business much more than a car/numbers business. Stop rewarding bad behavior.

No, you should not be annoyed. You should be PISSED OFF.

The only other car I ever factory ordered was a 1982 Trans Am. The salesman was probably mid-fifties at a small town dealership and treated me like gold. And I was just a snotty kid at the time. He kept me informed every step of the way and I never needed to call him for anything.

Having said that, I have enough car salesmen stories to write a book. I won't go into them since you've all experienced them too.

I just don't get it. I'm also in sales (not cars). I've built up a very large and loyal following over the years. My boss has asked me a few times why I think I've been successful. I always say it's very simple. I do what I say I am going to do. And I keep my customers informed. Everytime I get a little piece of information about their order, I pass it on. I used to call them but now it is even easier to just send them an email. If I tell someone that I'm going to do something, or research something, I write it down and then I DO it. What is so hard about this? I've heard many people complain about having to chase my competitors for information and answers. What's so difficult about following through? I can only assume that those who don't, just don't give a damn and you should take your business to someone who does.

That's probably why CamaroScotty doesn't know what a vacation is. He's too busy taking good care of his customers and making a very good living. What a concept!

Good Deal... Same thing happened to me... Thanks to this forum I found out about it so I let my salesman know the GSM put someone ahead of me. Of course he wasn't aware of it, but now pays closer attention to my order and what his GSM is doing.

Now here is the funny part I am using the same dealership and never had a problem with communication. Now just as long as that allocation they used in front of Woot was already in front of me then I dont have an issue

Yea, you've got a different salesman right? Yea, that one was already in front of you I believe. It got bumped up about 4 spots.
