I garage mine in the winter too, but I changed my oil before letting it sit because I don't want all the dirt and stuff to settle to the bottom. Is there a reason why you wait till spring?

You are only half-way obsessive compulsive. When you change it for storage and change it again when taking it out of storage you'll have joined the club.

Going on two years and only have 9K miles on it, so I just change mine every 3 months. Life time Dealer Oil changes purchased it with the car

I try to change the oil every 5000 kms (approx.3100 miles)
although, I changed it @ 3100 miles and then again @ 4100 miles for winter storage purposes.I will change the oil again as soon as the vert comes out of winter storage and then go by the 3100 miles routine after that again.

I'm about to change mine. Just dipped under 25% on the OLM. I mean the OLM when it says 0% it's actually still useable for at least a little while (safety feature put in to ensure your engine life isn't destroyed by taking it to 0% all the time, it's in the OLM break down by the oilguy on his website).

There is considerable safety factor in the GM oil life monitor. Typically, I would say, there is a 2:1 safety factor in the slope of the ZDP depletion curve....in other words, zero percent oil life per the ZDP depletion is not zero ZDP but twice the concentration of ZDP considered critical for THAT engine to operate under all conditions reliably with no wear.

GM put a lot of time and thought into this system to help reduce usage and save money. I don't think I could ever go 10K miles without changing the oil though.

I'm at about 6k Miles. If all these people that did the 3k oil changes sent there oil in for analysis when they did it I bet they'd be surprised how much longer it can be effective. I'm sure even mine is still useable 1K miles or more easily but like the 3k changers it's peace of mind to change it now.

I am new to the Camaro site. I do not mean to be offensive or question anyone's judgement. Everyone has to do what they can do. Some folks just can not live with longer drain times.
There are a lot of misconceptions about synthetic oil! I am sure that you would not want to hear that I ran Amsoil 0w-30 Signature for 18,000 to 20,000 miles in a 2005 GTO. Changed the oil filter at the half way point and did a lot of highway miles. This is the LS 2 engine. Bought it brand new, changed the oil at 2,700 and then thereafter went the distance. At 143,000 miles it did not use a drop of oil when I traded it off for the Camaro. Synthetic oil responds to byproducts of combustion much differently than dino oil. Synthetic burns at a higher temperature and the shear strength is much greater. The detergents in synthetic make it appear dirty; it is doing a great job. One researcher concluded that the longer you run synthetic the better it gets. That is just one. In other words, to apply standards for regular oil to synthetic, well, do your research!

Always changed @ 3,000 - 3,500 in my Bonneville 3800 engines. Those engines go to the junk yard still running with original parts.
Now with the Camaro V6 I moved up to 4,500 - 5,000 and I think I am going to back it back down. I don't like the look of the oil when it comes out.
